This role is part of Blue Origin corporate functions, providing centralized support across Blue Origin business unit teams, functions, and locations.We are a team of collaborators, doers, and problem-solvers who are passionate about human spaceflight and relentlessly committed to operational excellence. We are looking for a Sr. Legal Counsel to join the Labor & Employment team within the Legal & Compliance department. As part of a hardworking and efficient team of diverse specialists, you will be working with teams who are building the coolest technology on Earth!
Responsibilities:
Provide legal advice to in-house clients on a variety of employment compliance issues, including workplace conduct, hiring, leaves and accommodations, investigations, disciplinary actions, separations, and employee relations.
Appropriately balance business needs and risk mitigation.
Develop subject matter expertise to support company locations in multiple states.
Handle litigation strategy, EEOC responses, and communications with government agencies.
Provide support for regulatory and compliance matters such as EEOC, OFCCP, AAPs, and EEO-1 reporting.
Participate with Legal and Human Resources leadership teams on developing company-wide employee relations strategy and methodologies for processes that can scale with company growth.
Qualifications:
8+ years of legal experience including progressive responsibilities in employment and labor law advice, handling employment litigation cases, and defending agency actions, with a law firm and/or in-house legal department
Juris Doctor from an accredited U.S. college or university and membership in at least one U.S. state bar; the successful candidate will subsequently be required to obtain admission to the Washington State bar after hire
Ability to work efficiently and independently and communicate clearly (both verbally and in writing)
Ability to react calmly and appropriately to situations and events that require a quick response or turnaround and take effective action without knowing the whole picture
Ability to maintain productive work relationships, and provide legal advice directly to clients of every level
Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder) or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum
Compensation Range for:
WA applicants is $177,567.00-$248,593.80Other site ranges may differ
