Job description
As a Test Technician at Impulse Space, you will own all aspects of test equipment hardware design, implementation and operation while working closely with a fast paced, agile team.
Responsibilities
- Fabrication, assembly, and integration of fluid, electrical, and structural mechanical test stands equipment
- Conduct hands-on testing of rocket engines, components, and associated hardware
- Maintain facilities such as machining equipment, clean rooms, and testing assets
- Maintain tools, service shop equipment, and stock consumables.
- Maintain and repair AC and DC wire harnessing for test equipment.
- Work with designers, engineers and technicians to fabricate, build and test spaceflight hardware.
- Work with outside contractors on facilities projects
- Provide training and guidance to other technicians
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalency certificate
- 5+ years of professional experience in aerospace or other relevant operations or test environment
- Proficient with basic fabrication tools and processes (electric/pneumatic power tools, tube bending, machining, welding, etc.)
- Proficient with commercial/industrial wiring and electrical systems
- Ability to fabricate parts and assemblies from basic technical requirements
- Ability to troubleshoot problems with fluid and electrical systems and implement scrappy solutions
- Demonstrated approach to safety & comfortable working outdoors year-round
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Prior experience working in a fast-paced agile development environment
- Prior experience with propulsion and/or fluid system assembly and testing
- Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings, an understanding for drawing symbols, flag notes and general notes
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, with knowledge of standard operating procedures
- Attention to detail and accuracy while working within a fast-paced production environment
- Experience with data acquisition and instrumentation systems
- Experience with writing, using, and updating test procedures, checklists, and documentation
- Experience with precision cleaning processes and clean room operations/maintenance
- Operation and basic maintenance of diesel equipment such as forklifts, boom lifts, and generators
- Commercial driverβs license
- Experience with bonding strain gauges
- Experience with bonding accelerometers
- Experience with calibration/metrology of pressure, flow, temperature, and electrical test devices
- Experience with multimeters and basic electrical troubleshooting tools

Compensation bands are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data. Individual level and base pay is determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related skills, education, experience, technical capabilities and internal equity. In addition to base salary, for full-time hires, you may also be eligible for long-term incentives, in the form of stock options, and access to medical, vision & dental coverage as well as access to a 401(k) retirement plan.
