As part of a diverse and hardworking team of technicians, you will assist with the setup of the production work areas, including layouts, tooling and equipment setup for various spaceflight systems. You will share in the team’s impact on all aspects of transition from development to production. You will manufacture, assemble, and test structural flight hardware assemblies according to written procedures and engineering models, drawings, specifications. You will be responsible to operate various material handling equipment including forklifts, overhead cranes, aerial lifts, flight vehicle and subassembly transportation equipment, truck-trailer combinations and other ground support equipment as required. Setup and operate a wide range of precision calibrated tools including, but not limited to, torque wrenches, micrometers, calipers, laser tracker, height gauges and optical measuring instruments. You will perform second party verifications and hardware inspections to engineering models, drawings, specifications, and written procedure.

Responsibilities:
- Leads and supervises a team of technicians in composite layup, cure, fabrication, inspection, trimming, drilling, bonding, repair, and other processes. Also supports development and improvement of such processes.
- May operate or supervise operation of large specialized equipment such as Automated Fiber Placement (AFP) machines, large ovens, robotic inspection, and trim and drill equipment.
- Implement and ensure safety as a top priority for the technician team and composites shop
- Understand and follow work instructions, and contribute to safety, quality, process, and work instruction continuous improvement.
- Utilize and supervise use of manual, electric, & pneumatic tools to fabricate composite structures, molds, handling fixtures, and tooling.
- Employ and supervise use of precision measuring tools, and heavy machinery such as forklifts and cranes.
- Perform second party verifications and hardware inspections to engineering models, drawings, specifications, and written procedures
- Lead preparation of parts for bagging, including placement of bleeders, thermocouples, probes and vacuum connections.
- Assist with transitioning product from engineering development to production.
- Setup and establish work areas for production
- Adheres to equipment requirements and the method and sequences of operation to be followed in fabrication of parts using materials such as epoxy resins, rubber and like materials.
- The Supervisor will be expected to work with management to lead, staff, train, and evaluate Composites Fabrication Technicians.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED
- Experience in aerospace manufacturing, integration, or other relevant field
- Expertise in one or more of the following: automated fiber placement (AFP) and tape laying (ATL), lamination, large out-of-autoclave (OoA) oven curing, tooling, nondestructive evaluation, trimming/drilling/routing/machining, robotics, bonding, and production control systems.
- Ability to work respectfully and cooperatively with diverse teams in a dynamic environment displaying strong work ethic with close attention to detail
- Ability to interpret engineering models, drawings, specifications, written work instructions, and test procedures.
- Basic computer skills such as Windows, Microsoft Office, etc.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to climb ladders/stairs and work in small restricted areas
- Perform repetitive work including lifting of heavy items, >50lbs
- Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.

Employee Benefits include: Medical, dental, vision, basic and supplemental life insurance, paid parental leave (must be employed at time of birth or adoption), short and long-term disability, 401(k) with a company match of up to 5%, and an Education Support Program available after 1 year of service.
Paid Time Off: Up to four (4) weeks per year based on weekly scheduled hours, and up to 14 company-paid holidays for all regular employees (including part-time), fixed-term, and interns.
Discretionary bonus: Employees may be eligible for discretionary bonuses in addition to base pay. Bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.
