The Senior Staff RF Engineer, Payload Lead will be responsible for the technical design and development of the Payload communications subsystem within the RF Talent Center for the Druid Peak Program.
The communication subsystem consists of digital, RF, and optical components and that collectively transmit mission information across a group of satellites.
Manages the development of Subsystem Architectures consisting of: antennas, transmitters, receivers, low noise amplifiers, high power amplifiers, RF conversion elements and transmission line equipment. Coordinates link analysis and optimization, including effects of propagation medium and possible interference sources. Manages the development and allocation of RF system and subsystem functional and performance requirements. Oversees the identification and tracking of RF technical performance measurements (TPMs). Monitors RF system/subsystem/component trade studies and CAIV analysis. Supports Life Cycle Costs, reliability, availability, and maintainability analysis.

Basic Qualifications:
- 14+ years of combined technical experience which could include: electrical engineering, RF/Antenna design, systems engineering and/or integration and test including leadership experience
- BS in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering or related discipline
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including a demonstrated ability to interact effectively with customers, suppliers, management, and peers
- Experience with RF communications systems
- Proven experience writing and deriving complex subsystem level requirements
- Understanding of antenna pattern design and analysis
- Candidate must be self-motivated, team-oriented, and capable of working with minimal direction
- Ability to interact with hardware developers, software developers, and subcontractors to ensure mission requirements are satisfied.
- Understanding of RF communications systems link budget analysis
- Active Top Secret/SCI Clearance
Desired Skills:
- Demonstrated experience with delivering communication hardware for space applications
- Experience executing on space-based satellite programs
- Experieince with specifying, developing, testing, delivering RF or Digital Hardware for space applications
- Familiarity with Classified Programs
- Experience in RF testing environment
- Network and spectrum analyzer experience
- Experience analyzing, identifying, and developing mitigation methods to address co-site concerns
- Electromagnetic simulation of sensors and host platform interactions
- Experience with requirements and Interface Control Document (ICD) development
- Experience with test planning and execution with an understanding of all the interdependencies
- Radio sensor test: indoor anechoic, outdoor, airborne or on-orbit
- Strong presentation skills and capable of briefing audiences of varying technical knowledge
- Experience with full systems engineering design lifecycle
- Proficient working with RF design simulation tools β ADS, HFSS, Matlab/SIMULINK, SystemVue

Pay Rate:
The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, or Washington is $134,300 - $257,400. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
Benefits offered: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, 401(k) match, Flexible Spending Accounts, EAP, Education Assistance, Parental Leave, Paid time off, and Holidays.
(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full time employees: accrue 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO); receive 40 hours of Granted PTO annually for incidental absences; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of PTO per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO is prorated based on hours worked and start date during the calendar year.
