Omitron Inc. is looking for an experienced analyst to lead efforts in establishing our Space Traffic Management (STM) program.  Our team is supporting efforts to create initial conjunction assessment functionality for the Department of Commerce's Traffic Coordination System for Space (TraCSS) effort.  As the Omitron STM Lead, a successful candidate will manage a growing technical staff in support of an evolving customer need.  Our STM Lead will interact with government representatives from organizations including the Department of Commerce, Department of Defense, and NASA as well as their supporting organizations to enable a government-run commercial STM capability.  This interaction will involve informing policymakers on Omitron capabilities as well as providing technical briefings and participating in technical exchanges.  The Omitron STM Lead is expected to orchestrate our internal STM support team and company resources with little supervision to achieve customer and company objectives.


Essential Functions:

The Omitron STM Lead participates in high-level and technical meetings to define and create an initial conjunction assessment capability for the DoC TraCCS program.  This effort will involve understanding and implementing Omitron's Astrodynamics Support Workstation (ASW) software in a DoC environment using DoD and commercial data.  Based in Suitland, MD, the STM Lead will coordinate local and non-local Omitron engineers and analysts to rapidly evolve deployed software capability as well as support requested research studies and any future STM-related business development.  The STM Lead will further coordinate plans and status with company leadership on a recurring basis.

The ideal candidate will have outstanding technical talent and communication skills; have tactical and strategic experience in Space Domain Awareness (SDA) operations; understand the complexities of current SDA operations; have the desire to enable customer success; be flexible to an ever-evolving work environment.

Some travel may be required

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Space Operations, or a related discipline and 10 years of relevant experience or Bachelor's degree and 15 years of experience
  • Experience in SDA technologies such as orbit determination and conjunction assessment
  • Knowledge of current commercial SDA companies and capabilities
  • Experience in technical team management and leadership
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
  • Comfortable speaking and presenting complex ideas to leadership and customers

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in advising government space programs
  • Experience utilizing DoD SDA data
  • Experience in operating Omitron's Astrodynamics Support Workstation software
  • Familiarity with ASW software products
  • Familiarity with current STM data formats
