Terran Orbital is seeking an experienced Public Relations Professional (Marketing) to join our growing team. Reporting to the Director of Marketing, the Public Relations Specialist (Marketing) will organize and oversee PR activities and ensure effective communication with stakeholders, media, and the public. Your goal will be to cultivate a positive company image.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Contribute to the success of a fast-growing, multidisciplinary team who devises remote sensing satellite missions and capabilities responsive to customer needs
- Write press releases, media announcements, speeches, and other PR copy
- Help marketing teams tell compelling brand stories
- Develop PR campaigns and media relations strategies while seeking opportunities for partnerships, sponsorships, and advertising
- Monitor and analyze the effectiveness of PR campaigns and communicate insights to management
- Plan or direct the development of programs to maintain favorable public views of the organization’s agenda and accomplishments
- Build and maintain targeted media lists, and nurture relationships with key reporters
- Establish and maintain relationships with consumers, community, employees, and public interest groups
- Organize PR events (e.g., open days, press conferences) and serve as the company’s spokesperson
- Coach organization’s representatives in effective communication with the public and employees
- Study the organization’s objectives, promotional policies, and needs to build public relations strategies that influence public opinion and promote products, ideas, and services
- Edit and update promotional material and publications (brochures, videos, social media posts, etc.), including employee newsletters and other publications for internal and external audiences
- Represent the organization at press conferences, interviews, etc.
- Track media coverage and follow industry trends, conduct research and analyze public opinion; analyze media coverage of the organization and draft appropriate responses
- Collaborate with internal teams and maintain open communication with senior management
- Serve as a first contact person for all media queries and provide effective crisis management solutions in times of need
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor's degree in public relations, journalism, communications, marketing, or a relevant field
- 7 years of experience drafting/executing strategic communications plans
- 7 years of experience writing press releases for corporations, preferably in the aerospace and defense or technology sectors
- 7 years of experience in public relations project management and knowledge of Associated Press writing style
- Proven working experience as a Public Relations Specialist or relevant experience
- Exceptional interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, as well as presentation skills
- Superior relationships management skills
- Ability to work under pressure, to work effectively in a diverse team environment, and to always represent the company professionally
- Excellent copywriting and editing skills, and hands-on experience in content management
- Outstanding organizational and time management skills and attention to detail
- Passion for speaking, good creative writing skills, excellent attention to detail
- Strong computer skills using Microsoft Office and Adobe, and experience with diverse social media platforms
- In-depth knowledge of industry best practices
- Ability to work on big strategic plans as well as day-to-day tasks
- Deadline-oriented, curious, with excellent follow-up and reporting skills
- Ability to self-govern with minimum supervision, establish workload priorities, and utilize efficient time management practices to achieve assigned tasks
Additional Differentiators
- Master’s degree in journalism
- Experience in converting a commercial strategy into content and communication actions.
- Experience in an internal communications role supporting a Department of Defense (DoD) environment
- Strong existing relationships with journalists and media outlets
- US government-issued security clearance at the Secret or Top Secret/SCI levels
- Familiarity with project management software and video/photo editing is a plus
- Desire to learn new skills as required and develop expertise in areas that may be unfamiliar

Physical Demands
An employee must meet the physical demands described to perform the essential functions of this job successfully.
