Summary:

The Senior Quality Assurance Inspector will be responsible for verifying products and processes to engineering design requirements using established industry inspection practices, standards, and inspection tools/equipment.

Duties and Responsibilities:​ 

  • Perform incoming inspection of mechanical and electrical components, sub-assemblies, and assemblies using blueprints/drawings, industry standards, and established inspection processes to verify conformance to design requirements.
  • Review Source Inspection Technical Data Packages to ensure compliance with design requirements.
  • Perform First Article Inspection of machined parts and assemblies in accordance with AS9102.
  • Perform detailed in-process inspections of electrical and mechanical assemblies, using blueprints/drawings, established industry standards, and established processes to verify conformance to design requirements.
  • Perform detailed product inspections on finished goods
  • Document production nonconformance in accordance with provided procedures and processes as applicable.
  • Communicate effectively to other AST & Science personnel any quality issues needing resolutions.
  • Work multiple assignments concurrently and maintain flexibility to production schedule.
  • Support internal testing processes to validate the performance of satellite systems.
  • Monitor the use of calibrated measuring instruments.

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • 10+ years of inspection experience in an aerospace, aviation, military, and/or manufacturing environment
  • Valid Driver License
  • US Citizen or Permanent Resident Card Holder

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Experience working with standard manufacturing and production processes in the aerospace industry.
  • Experience reading blueprints/drawings, interpreting geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), engineering specifications/requirements, and established standards used in the aerospace industry.
  • Experience using inspection plans and performing inspection of complex machined and fabricated components using inspection tools (Calipers, Micrometers, Vernier Height Gage, Pin Gage, Thread Gage, Etc.), Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM), Laser Trackers, and/or Romer Arms.
  • Experience using PC-DMIS and Verisurf Metrology Software
  • Experience with AS9100 and ISO9001 Quality Management Systems, First Article Inspection Plans and First Article Inspection Reports in accordance with AS9102.
  • Experience performing process and product validations on sub-assemblies and final assemblies in an aerospace environment.
  • Experience using enterprise software to receive materials, inspect materials, document nonconforming materials.
  • Experience documenting, identifying, and bonding nonconforming materials, performing stock sweeps, participating in Root Cause and Corrective Action activities.
