Northrop Grumman Space Systems – Launch and Missile Defense Systems Sector has an exciting career opportunity in Huntsville, Alabama for a Staff Engineer Planning Analyst to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals, serving as the Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD) Weapon Systems (GWS) GMD Fire Control (GFC) Control Account Manager (CAM).

Position Overview:  

The selected Staff Engineer Planning Analyst (GFC CAM) responsibilities include support to the GFC Product Manager, GWS Program Managers and customer by providing Cost and Schedule oversight and monthly Earned Value Reporting.

Essential Functions:  

  • Plan and manage cost account budget, schedule, and technical performance for scope of work.
  • Project planning utilizing the IMS and aligning to overall program milestones.
  • Communication and status reporting to program leadership and management.
  • Responsible for tracking and reporting cost and schedule performance monthly.
  • Risk management, mitigations, and interface with risk boards.
  • Ensure compliance with Earned Value policies, procedures, and desktop procedures.
  • Develop monthly forecasts.  Conduct variance analysis to submitted forecasts.
  • Managing scope and aligning to contract and statement of work requirements.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 12+ years of experience, or a Master’s degree and 10+ years of experience, or a PhD and 8+ years of experience.
  • Experience with Quantifiable Backup Data (QBD), waterfall, and/or Agile development processes.
  • Experience in presenting to various levels of leadership.
  • Proficiency in technical problem solving, including decomposition, root cause analysis, solution development, implementation, and monitoring.  
  • Proven, effective planning, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with teams and stakeholders to include excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Minimum ten (10) years’ experience with experience and training in Earned Value Management System (EVMS) principles and application, or similar knowledge, or as a Cost Account Manager (CAM)
  • Experience preparing and delivering briefings for Customer and Engineering Leadership
  • Experience with Microsoft Project, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 10% to support business needs.
  • Applicants must have a current active in-scope DoD Secret security clearance at the time of application which is required to start.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Jira and Confluence
  • Strong work ethic and the ability to work in an integrated product team (IPT) environment
  • Highly motivated to solve complex problems and continuously improve
  • Ability to produce high quality work both independently and with a team
  • Strong verbal and written technical communication skills
  • Experience in leading and working on an Agile cross functional software development team as a Product Owner or Scrum Master, to include familiarity with the software development process and software integrations.
  • Experience as the Cost Account Manager (CAM) on a DoD earned value management-based program
  • Northrop Grumman CAM certification.
  • Experience writing Basis of Estimates (BOEs), working on DoD based proposals, and compiling programmatic / technical solutions.
  • Demonstrate a track record as an effective collaborator, communicator and problem solver who is able to develop and maintain good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate an ability to operate in a team environment and collaborate across the organization as required to accomplish the team goals.

Salary Range: $148,400.00 - $222,600.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
