We are looking for you to join our team as a Consulting Systems Engineer to join our Emerging Capabilities Development (ECD) Organization. The ECD organization within Northrop Grumman Mission Systems pushes the boundaries of innovation, redefines the leading edge of exotic new technologies, and drives advances in the sciences. You will work on a multidisciplinary team working on digital multi-function RF systems development and testing to include Radar and Electronic Warfare (EW) applications. This position is based out of Linthicum, MD and will be 100% on-site.  

What You’ll get to Do:
 
As an integral part of our Emerging Capabilities team you will serve as a Consulting Engineer for new initiatives within ARFS OU and be a key authority for engineering aspects of new program teams (systems engineering/hardware/software/support/test). You will regularly take a leadership role in providing insight and knowledge transfer to others on internal and external technical solutions to solve complex problems.

  • Demonstrated ability as program technical liaison and ability to present technical solutions to senior leadership.

  • Communicate our value to customers and internal stakeholders. 

  • Develop advanced technological ideas and guide their development into a final product that has a direct impact on the Operating Unit.

  • Be the technical point of contact for the customer 

  • Grow existing business, generate new opportunities, and capture new business. Develop a deep understanding of existing and potential customers, understand current and future ARFS products and capabilities, and understand the competitive landscape. 

  • Develop and maintain relationships with customers. Understand the customer and identify new business opportunities with strategic direction for our emerging technologies.

  • Provide vision to ECD team members and recruit and retain key personnel to resource the requirements of the technical roadmaps and associated business plans.

This position is contingent upon contract award, the successful transfer of an active DoD Secret Clearance and ability to obtain/maintain special program access (SAP).
 
Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 16+ years of experience, master's degree with 14+ years of experience or Ph.D. with 12+ years of experience in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, or related technical fields; an additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

  • U.S Citizenship is required.

  • A current / active DoD Secret Clearance.

  • Ability to obtain/maintain Special Access Program (SAP) access

  • 5 years of hands-on experience in advanced RF system design, development, or testing.

  • Proven track record of analyzing and aligning project objectives with mission goals for at least 4 projects.

  • At least 3 years of experience leading technical proposals valued at $5 million or more, with a proven ability to guide customers through 5 or more technical performance reviews.

  • Successfully motivated and guided cross-functional teams of at least 5 members towards project success without formal ownership in at least 3 instances.

 
Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degrees in Science, Technology, Engineer, or Mathematics or other related technical fields.

  • Active DoD Top Secret Clearance or higher.

  • 7 years of experience specifically focused on military sensor systems, including R&D and operational applications.

  • 10 years of hands-on experience in remote sensing applications across at least 3 operating domains (air, land, sea, space, cyber).

  • 5 years of experience developing mission-level concepts of operations and contributing to emerging systems architectures for at least 3 major projects.

  • Demonstrated understanding of RF signal processing chains, with practical application in at least 3 projects

  • Familiarity with sensor-to-shooter mission areas, including current and emerging needs and technology capability gaps, as evidenced by involvement in at least 2 related projects or initiatives.

  • Established relationships with at least 3 ECD customers, with a demonstrated understanding of their stakeholder needs.

  • Proven record of integrating 3 or more engineering specialties and managing relationships among stakeholders across at least 4 different teams and suppliers.

  • 7 years leading the design, production, and integration of complex systems, with successful completion of at least 5 major projects.

  • Proven track record of achieving project goals and results through effective people management and understanding of internal processes, with experience managing cross-functional teams over at least 3 years.

  • Experience collaborating with diverse groups from at least 5 distinct organizations or backgrounds, successfully reaching consensus on critical project decisions.

  • Recorded success in making effective decisions in complex, uncertain, or challenging situations across at least 4 projects.

  • 5 years of experience managing or contributing to industrial or government construction projects, with an emphasis on compliance and stakeholder engagement.

  • Demonstrated breadth of technical expertise across all domain aspects, including physical, security, and phenomenology, with applicable experience in at least 4 distinct technical fields.

Salary Range: $197,500.00 - $296,300.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
