Mission Brief
The Manager Accounting is a crucial role within our organization, reporting directly to the Director Group Accounting. This role is tasked with leading the local GAAP accounting in our German entity, including general ledger (GL), invoicing and accounts receivables (A/R) and accounts payables (A/P). This position is instrumental in developing and maintaining accounting policies, ensuring accurate and timely preparation of financial statements and reports, and ensuring accounting and tax and payroll compliance.
Your Role in Our Space Mission:
- Local GAAP Accounting and involvement in the group IFRS Accounting: Develop and maintain local GAAP policies and procedures to ensure compliant translation into IFRS
- Local GAAP Compliance: Carry out asset accounting, reconciliation of balance sheet and intercompany accounts. Prepare VAT and other reports required by law. Ensure compliance with local GAAP and VAT regulations by coordinating with internal stakeholders, external auditors and advisors
- Team Performance: Implement measures to improve team performance and ensure the team is consistently delivering high-quality work
- Team Leadership: Provide leadership, mentorship, and training to the Accounting team members, empowering them to perform their roles effectively
- Stakeholder Engagement: Continually improve business partnering between the team and stakeholders, fostering strong relationships and delivering significant value
- Process Optimization: Optimize accounting processes, support managers with insights from data, and ensure accurate recording of financial transactions
- Intercompany Transactions: Manage intercompany transactions and ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial information
Qualification Checklist
- Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Alternatively, an experienced career with practical education (“Bilanzbuchhalter”)
- Several years of relevant professional experience in accounting, with a focus on local GAAP and ideally IFRS
- Proven leadership experience in managing and developing accounting teams, with the ability to inspire, guide, and support team members to reach their full potential
- In-depth knowledge of local GAAP accounting and experience with IFRS translation and intercompany transactions
- Proven experience in tax and payroll accounting, preparation of statutory reports, and ensuring compliance with local regulations
- Proficiency in SAP and strong MS Excel skills
- Strong analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving abilities; excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
