Job description

Turning Space into a Transportation Layer for Earth

Who We Are:

Eras of humanity can often be defined by a dominant transportation mode - horse drawn chariots, ocean going boats, or aircraft. These were spurred by a small group of people rigorously focused on building technology to achieve faster access to more of the world.  We seek to usher in a new era of humanity defined by universal access to the whole globe free of borders and the presence of a routine way from space to Earth. To do this, we are building highly maneuverable re-entry vehicles that can loiter in orbit before precision landing back on Earth.

Position Overview:
We’re looking for a Senior Graphic Designer & Brand Lead to develop Inversion’s visual identity and create compelling content that educates and excites. Inversion has a strong branding foundation and this role will help take it to the next level. This is a rare opportunity to build a brand at the edge of aerospace and logistics — while staying hands-on in the creation of visual communications that will define how the world sees us.

You’ll report directly to the Director of Marketing and Communications and be Inversion’s first full-time design hire. You’ll have a high degree of autonomy, a major say in defining our creative direction, and the support to execute ambitious work. You’ll design everything from investor decks and social content to event branding and product visuals — and lay the groundwork for a future internal design team. You’ll also design all corporate merch and influence how our physical spaces look, from our offices to the factory floor.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain Inversion’s brand identity and visual design system
  • Create assets for business development materials, pitch decks, social content, tradeshow booths, merch, signage, and website
  • Translate complex aerospace and defense concepts into intuitive, compelling visual narratives
  • Own design timelines from concept through execution, managing internal priorities and external freelancers
  • Maintain and grow a trusted network of freelance designers, illustrators, and vendors
  • Set a high creative bar and champion excellent design craft across the company

Required Qualifications:

  • 5 – 8+ years of experience in graphic design, brand development, or art direction
  • Strong portfolio showing cross-platform design work, including both digital and print
  • Complete fluency in Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office – Figma a plus
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities
  • Proven ability to take a project from concept to completion with minimal oversight
  • Clear visual thinking, with strong command of typography, layout, hierarchy, and storytelling
  • Experience managing or collaborating with freelancers, vendors, or agencies
  • Comfortable working in a 100% in-person role at our Los Angeles headquarters

Desired Qualifications:

  • Background in startup, agency, aerospace, or deep tech environments
  • Experience in motion graphics, 3D rendering, or video editing
  • Web design or front-end design experience
  • Familiarity with event branding and environmental graphics
  • Interest in defense, logistics, or space industries
  • Experience developing or refining brand guidelines
  • Desire to build and lead a small internal creative team over time

Our office headquarters is located in Playa Vista, CA. This position requires in office presence.

The California annual base salary for this role is currently $100,000-$150,000 Pay Grades are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data.  Individual pay will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: interviews and an assessment of several factors that are unique to each candidate, job-related skills, relevant education and experience, certifications, abilities of the candidate and internal equity.
