Are you ready to put your experience to work at Northrop Grumman? If so, Our Defense Systems Team wants you to join our FROST Software Team as a Principal Engineer Software or Senior Principal Engineer Software based out of Schriever SFB, in Colorado Springs, CO.

The FROST Software team works in a dynamic environment to develop new containerized software and maintain existing software for different needs on the program:

• We maintain software used to remotely establish connections for status & control of ground equipment.

• We also maintain software that handles scheduling of on-orbit contacts, and orbit calculations.

• We write software that supports launch operations with trajectory calculations for the SpaceX and ULA vendors.

• We provide customized telemetry processing solutions for special program requirements.

• We develop React-based user interfaces for operator interaction.

• We write microservices that interact with a variety of vendor interfaces for data processing. 

• We deploy new containerized applications in Kubernetes environments.

• We respond to new customer requests by extend and enhancing existing capabilities and creating new ones where needed.

Basic Qualifications:

This role may be hired as a Principal or Senior Principal level depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate:

Principal Software Engineer – A minimum of 9 yrs of software development experience and a High School diploma. A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or other STEM related degree with 5 years of software development experience or a Master's and 3 years with a Master’s, or 1 year with a PhD may also be considered.

Sr. Principal Software Engineer – A minimum of 12 yrs of software development experience and a High School diploma. A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or other STEM related degree with 8 years of software development experience or a Master's and 6 years with a Master’s, or 3 year with a PhD may also be considered.

* Active TS/SCI clearance and current CI poly

* An experienced self-starter who can work and problem solve independently with minimal guidance.

* Experience with Agile software development using Java in a Red Hat Enterprise Linux and/or Microsoft Windows environment.

* Knowledge of object-oriented design and how to apply it in software development.

* Experience using an IDE for Java software development and a debugger.

* Experience with Gitlab DevOps platform and Atlassian toolset (JIRA, Confluence).

* Experience with Git distributed version control system.

* Experience with Java build systems (Maven/Gradle).

* Experience with NoSQL databases, such as MongoDB.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Experience with Spring/Spring Boot frameworks.

* Experience with Docker/Kubernetes.

* Experience using/writing Ansible automation scripts.

* Experience with VMware toolsets.

* Experience with C++ programming language.

* Working knowledge of SQL databases.

Salary Range: $100,300.00 - $150,500.00Salary Range 2: $124,900.00 - $187,300.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
