We’re on the hunt for an Intermediate Systems Engineer on our Robotics and Space Operations team at our Kanata office to carry out systems engineering on industry-leading space vision systems (LiDAR and visual and IR Cameras).

Robotics & Space Operations: With 40 years of operational experience and proven performance on the iconic Canadarm programs including Space Shuttle and International Space Station robotics and operations support, our Robotics & Space Operations team has 100% mission success in making space dreams come true.

As an Intermediate Systems Engineer, you will be involved in the full product lifecycle from requirements definition through to acceptance and performance testing.  Projects at the Kanata office include vision systems for robotics, spacecraft, and rovers.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop high-level system requirements, based upon the end user needs and/or stated requirements
  • Analyze and decompose systems-level requirements and allocate requirements and design margin across sub-system elements
  • Advocate for design to cost, design for test, and design for manufacture approaches throughout the organization for effective productization of commercial space systems
  • Develop and ensure proper documentation of technical and interface requirements
  • Develop and ensure proper documentation of high-level system and subsystem design
  • Develop verification and test plans
  • Understand and assess design issues, determine appropriate resolutions, and work with the team to address
  • Troubleshoot system behaviour anomalies, determine root cause, and the appropriate technical resolution
  • Review, analyse, and interpret telemetry from deployed system with context and understanding of the system development life cycle
  • Help develop LiDAR system models and contribute to the maturation of MDA’s MBSE library

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Interested candidates must possess a Bachelor degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, Physics, Applied Mathematics, or the equivalent
  • 4+ years of experience in systems engineering, manufacturing engineering, and/or project engineering are required
  • Knowledge of LiDAR systems, flight verification and validation, and operations analysis would be an asset
  • Familiarity with the space mission project lifecycle, Matlab/Simulink, and SysML would also be considered a benefit

The compensation range for this position is $71,200.00 - $97,000.00 annually. The specific compensation offered will be based on the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.
