What we are seeking:
We are seeking an Integration Architect for Mission Systems to join our International Government (IG) Solutions Team. This role is focused on enabling customer success by supporting the integration and deployment of our advanced geospatial analytics and AI-powered product suite into ISR platforms and environments.
The ideal candidate is a technically credible, mission-oriented innovator who thrives in fast-paced, customer-facing environments. Additionally, this person will bring a systems-level mindset, familiarity with embedded edge platforms, and a deep understanding of sensor data flows, navigation solutions and mission-critical applications.
Why It Matters:
The IG Solutions team is a dynamic, results-oriented team of Defense and Intelligence subject matter experts (SMEs), innovators, and solution architects. This Integration Architect will be the member of this team that leads efforts to help our customers bring our solutions to life in their systems accelerating customer adoption and driving real-world impact. Our business is fueled by delivering tangible value to our customers, and we need a team member who is obsessed with making that happen.
Who We Are:
Maxar is the global leader in Geospatial Intelligence and Insights. Since the 1970s, Maxar has delivered full-cycle solutions from imaging satellite design to AI/ML-powered insights and the most accurate 3D terrain models at global scale. Our products support mission-critical operations for the governments and defense organizations, civil agencies, and commercial customers worldwide. Whether responding to disasters or enabling sovereign decision-making, Maxar delivers precision, scale, and trust.
Where:
This role is based in our London, UK office with travel as required to support customers globally.
The Role:
As an Integration Architect for Mission Systems, you will lead systems level technical and engineering engagements with OEMs, defense integrators, and mission customers. Your focus will be on helping customers evaluate, integrate, and deploy our products and system components into a variety of environments including edge compute systems, environments supporting positioning and navigation, imagery, and real-time analysis.
Think Strategically:
- Build trusted relationships with national security customers and OEM partners
- Shape the positioning and technical articulation of our capabilities with high-value customers
- Coach regional sales teams on technical go-to-market strategies
- Partner with product and engineering teams to shape roadmaps and respond to complex requirements
- Translate concepts of operations (CONOPS) into integration strategies
Act Tactically:
- Serve as the technical lead for solution engineering integrations involving geospatial and satellite imagery and full motion video within the IG sales activities
- Provide direct technical and engineering guidance to customers during integration and field testing
- Deliver custom demonstrations and rapid prototypes for customer evaluations
- Lead the co-development of technical content for RFPs, RFIs, and tenders
- Qualify integration feasibility, including SWaP requirements, guide solution design, and ensure successful deployment
- Communicate effectively across internal product, engineering, and field teams
Understand Our Customers:
- Apply your domain experience in ISR, AI/ML, and geospatial intelligence to contextualize customer missions and integration needs
- Understand and assess the customer’s technical environment, including constraints, interfaces, and operational workflows
- Engage with both program and engineering stakeholders to map mission needs to system integration pathways
- Contribute to mission planning discussions, helping identify how Maxar capabilities can best be adapted or deployed
- Collaborate directly with OEMs and end users to support proof-of-concept efforts, field testing, and early integration success
- Be resourceful and flexible in the face of real-world complexity — helping customers bridge the gap between concept and deployment
Required Qualifications:
- Active UK or US government security clearance
- Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline (e.g., Aerospace, Computer Science, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Math)
- Experience supporting ISR, UAS, aerospace, or defense system integrations
- Familiarity with GNSS/INS navigation systems, video odometry, or visual-inertial fusion stacks
- Exposure to SLAM, SfM, or bundle adjustment techniques in real-world applications.
- Experience working with ISR-relevant imagery and video formats, such as GeoTIFF, MPEG-TS, KLV metadata, H.264/H.265, STANAG 4609, MISB and working with image matching techniques (e.g., SIFT, ORB, SURF)
- Understanding of 3D terrain data formats (e.g., DEM/DTED, Cesium 3D Tiles) and coordinate systems (e.g., WGS84, UTM)
- Familiarity with tools and frameworks like OpenCV, PyTorch, GDAL, Cesium, or Unity.
- Practical knowledge of embedded Linux platforms (e.g., Jetson, Raspberry Pi, NXP) and their deployment environments
- Experience supporting integration with SDKs and APIs (REST, gRPC, file-based, or stream interfaces) in real-time or batch contexts
- Scripting proficiency in Python or Bash for integration testing, data movement, or automation workflows
- Proven ability to collaborate across engineering, product, and field teams to deliver successful customer outcomes
- Willingness and ability to travel domestically or internationally (average ~25%, with peaks up to 50%)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Engineering, Applied Physics, Computer Vision, or a related technical field
- Exposure to Linux-based embedded systems and configurations (e.g., systemd, Yocto, Docker)
- Familiarity with OGC geospatial standards (WMS, WMTS, WFS) or real-time geospatial streaming protocols
- Experience working with sensor calibration, test plans, or field deployments of ISR or robotics systems
- Demonstrated success integrating technical systems in a customer-facing or OEM support role
- Background in AI/ML applications related to computer vision, sensor fusion, or ISR analytics
