🔹Location: Helsinki (On-site)
🔹Type of Contract: Permanent
Who are we?
ICEYE is the global leader in synthetic aperture radar (SAR) satellite technology, revolutionizing Earth observation with real-time, all-weather, day-and-night imaging. As the owner and operator of the world’s largest SAR satellite constellation, we provide critical insights that empower industries like maritime, disaster management, insurance, and finance to make informed decisions.
Headquartered in Finland, with a presence in five international locations, our diverse team of 600+ experts from nearly 60 countries shares a bold mission: to enhance life on Earth by delivering reliable, data-driven solutions. At ICEYE, we foster a culture of curiosity, innovation, and collaboration, pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in space technology to solve the world’s toughest challenges.
Why Join ICEYE?
At ICEYE, we’re not just launching satellites, we’re redefining what’s possible with SAR technology. Join a team of passionate innovators solving real-world challenges and making a tangible impact. We foster a dynamic and inclusive environment where your ideas are valued, your growth is supported, and your contributions truly matter. With continuous learning opportunities, cutting-edge projects, and collaboration with industry-leading experts, you'll have the chance to grow, innovate, and shape the future of Earth Observation.
Why you will Love this role?
ICEYE is looking for a Senior AIT Power Engineer to take full technical ownership of the satellite’s power subsystem, from early design through manufacturing, testing, and delivery. In this role, you’ll be the key expert ensuring that units like the PDU, batteries, solar arrays, and harnessing are manufacturable, testable, and reliable. You’ll join projects early, influence how the system is designed and integrated, and help ensure everything is ready for a smooth transition into production.
You’ll work closely with both design engineers and the production team, supporting system-level tests like thermal vacuum and EMC, preparing documentation, training technicians, and solving problems as they arise. Once production is stable, you’ll continue to support as the subject-matter expert while helping drive improvements. This is a hands-on role where system-level thinking and real-world problem-solving are key to success.
What will you do in this role?
- Join projects from the early design phase, representing the needs of integration and production
- Help define how the power subsystem (PDU, batteries, solar arrays, harnessing and ...) should be integrated and tested
- Ensure all requirements are realistic and production-ready for a smooth handover to manufacturing
- Contribute to key project reviews including PDR, CDR, and PRR, and participate in system-level discussions related to power
- Act as the AIT power expert, ensuring documentation, procedures, test setups, and tools are in place
- Train and support production personnel, ensuring full understanding of power subsystem assembly, testing, and troubleshooting
- Serve as the main interface between Power design engineers and the production team for seamless collaboration and issue resolution
- Lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis on-site during integration and bring-up, especially in the case of anomalies
- Support the subsystem during production ramp-up, and later serve as Tier 2 support between production and design once the flow stabilizes
- Play a hands-on, system-aware role requiring deep technical knowledge and practical application
- Be a key contributor in making ICEYE’s power systems scalable, production-ready, and high-performing
- Continuously identify and drive improvements in design, testing strategy, and integration processes
Requirements
What will you need to be successful in this role?
- 5+ years of experience as a Power Systems or Electronics Engineer
- Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
- Understanding of how to transfer a R&D design to a mass production design
- Solid understanding of power systems and key components (PDU, EPS, solar panels, batteries, power harnessing, etc.)
- Hands on experience with lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeter, power analysers, spectrum analyzers an VNAs
- Working knowledge of Python for scripting, automation and test development
- Capability to interface with debug embedded systems
- Experience working as the interface between Production and Engineering
- Hands-on experience assembling or integrating electronic units and subsystems into an overall system, with a good understanding of the reasoning behind it
- Background in PCB design and manufacturing standards
- Ability to translate engineering designs into real-life assembly and test procedures
- Understanding of TRLs and MRLs levels and how to fulfill them
- Strong collaboration skills to work closely with design, production, and test teams
- Good habits around documentation and configuration control
- Experience with integration testing, fault isolation, and production troubleshooting.
- Proactive attitude, with the ability to take ownership and drive the power subsystem toward maturity
- Willingness to be on the production floor and provide direct support during integration and testing
- Ability to interpret electrical schematics and translate engineering intent into test and integration workflows.
