Job description
The Lead Data Center Engineer is responsible for data processing operations activities and managing the data processing center(s). This individual will be responsible for implementing programs that maximize computer availability and efficiency and prepare regular computer operations performance reports for management. They will be responsible for post-flight processing of aircraft data, including recovery, computation, and display.
The Data Center Lead will interface with technical personnel in the diagnosis and resolution of problems encountered in the recovery of test data utilizing various data systems, including Azure cloud environments and specialized data processing software. Lead will mentor engineers in the processing and analysis of data. Position may require periods of working alternate shifts.
Responsibilities
Coordinate and/or integrate with VG systems engineers on modifications and/or design change for the Data Center systems.
Coordinate post-flight data analysis functions, including continued development of system health monitoring and reliability data for more established systems.
Data center documentation Data center security, procedures, and policies, Data backup policies and procedures, Data Center Standards.
elevations, and maintaining the accuracy of all documentation and databases
Manage physical access to Data Centers and to the racks in the Data Centers
Manage the Data Center Service Level Agreements (SLA)
Liaise with Data Center support staff and Data Center users
Follow Data Center procedures and processes and establish new and/or modify existing procedures and processes for efficiency
Refer customer requests for system health/status monitoring to IT Operations (U) Track the completion of all service and access requested for Data Center
Ensure all Data Center security protocols are followed
Assist with providing equipment accountability and coordination of Data Center equipment and software installations/removal
Requires Skills and Experience
B.S. Degree in Aerospace, Mechanical Engineering, or similar and 8 years experience in Aerospace or Space
1-3 years of MongoDB (or SQL languages) experience databases and interfaces
Python and MATLAB experience
Knowledge of instrumentation devices to develop, test, and troubleshoot data processing algorithms for aircraft data
Demonstrate strong analytical and troubleshooting skills; Demonstrate ability to work independently.
Familiarity with bus protocols; Developing, writing and executing data processing acceptance test procedures; Implementation of Windows workstations on an enterprise network
Knowledge of IADS; IRIG Chapter 10 recording; TMATS; GPS and IRIG time standards and receiving devices
Successful aviation/aerospace project engineering management experience
Working knowledge of aircraft and space systems and familiarity with relevant aerospace standards (FAA, FAA‐AST etc.)
Knowledge of analog and digital signal conditioning and data acquisition equipment
Microsoft Office and Windows user experience
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
Preferred Skills and Experience
Ground/Flight Test control room and/or Flight Test Engineer experience; experience in new or existing aircraft/space systems testing is desired

The annual U.S. base salary range for this full-time position is $108,871.00–$166,036.00. The base pay actually offered will vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, location, and experience and take into account internal equity. Other forms of pay (e.g., bonus or long term incentive) may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
