The Boeing CompanyBoeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS) Space, Intelligence and Weapon Systems (SI&WS) Ground and Mission Systems Engineering (GMSE) is looking for an Experienced or Senior Ground Telemetry, Tracking, and Command (TT&C) Lead Systems Engineer (Level 3 or 4) to join our team in El Segundo, California.
The SI&WS GMSE division creates the next generation products and services for the BDS business unit. We work with both commercial and proprietary customers in the development of the next-generation technologies in space. Our team focuses on rapid prototyping to demonstrate a host of mission-focused technologies for a variety of customers. Our group works all facets of engineering from technology investment, concept development, proposal writing, requirements, design, build, integration, test, and demonstration of products in their relevant environments.
The Ground TT&C Lead Systems Engineer will join a high-performing team that is immersed in high intensity development projects. As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to work proprietary programs for U.S. government customers who are responsible for exciting advanced technology national security missions.
The Ground TT&C Lead Systems Engineer will develop and implement engineering solutions and practices for key Ground System capabilities including:
Command and Control (Payload and Bus)
Mission Planning
Mission Management
Flight Dynamics / Orbit Management
Constellation / Fleet Management
Situational Awareness (Courses of Action, Decision Support System)
User Experience
Maintenance and Modernization
Position Responsibilities:
Leads TT&C subsystem architecture, design, development, integration and test, verification and validation, certification, and operations through a modernization effort.
Integrates and tests TT&C subsystem design solutions across various Ground test environments and operational facilities.
Defines and develops TT&C subsystem test requirements, regression testing, test plans, procedures, and schedules.
Leads TT&C subsystem execution, analysis and preparation of test results to support verification, validation, certification, and transition.
Applies an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to plan, design, develop, and verify complex lifecycle balanced system of systems and system solutions.
Evaluates customer/operational needs to define and coordinate system performance requirements, integrate technical parameters and assure compatibility of all physical, functional and program interfaces.
Performs various analyses to optimize total system of systems and/or system architecture.
Performs analyses for affordability, safety, reliability, maintainability, testability, human systems integration, survivability, vulnerability, susceptibility, system security, regulatory, certification, product assurance and other specialties quality factors into a preferred configuration to ensure mission success.
Develops, maintains and identifies improvements for the planning, organization, implementation and monitoring of requirements management processes, tools, risk, issues, opportunity management and technology readiness assessment processes.
Interfaces with cross-functional teams, senior leadership, and external customers.
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):
Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
5+ years of experience with Systems Engineering methodologies
3+ years of experience leading or managing an engineering project or team
1+ years of experience with Ground and Space Vehicle communications
1+ years of experience with development of Command and Control, Mission Management, and Mission Planning software systems for Ground Systems
1+ years of experience with JIRA and Confluence
Experience with Ground Systems Maintenance and Modernization
Experience with virtual Ground station hardware
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
9+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience in software coding and troubleshooting
Experience in Satellite Flight Dynamics / Orbit Management
Experience in Satellite Constellation / Fleet Management
Experience in Space Situational Awareness (Courses of Action, Decision Support System)
Experience in Ground Systems User Experience
Experience with Cost Account Management (EVMS)
Experience working with Government customers
