Description
ELC Launch Services Capacity Demonstration Manager, Commercial Space Transportation Programme, Strategy and Institutional Launches, Directorate of Space Transportation.
Under the authority of the Commercial Space Transportation Programme Manager, you will be responsible for implementing launch service capacity upgrade demonstration activities with selected Challengers within the European Launcher Challenge programme.
Duties
You will, in particular, act as Technical Officer for several capacity upgrade demonstration contracts and, in that capacity, you will be responsible for:
- negotiating and managing the performance of contracts on launch service capacity upgrade demonstration activities with selected Challengers within the European Launcher Challenge programme;
- leading the assessment of the programmatic and technical progress, including contractual deliverables, of the launch service capacity upgrade demonstration activities at defined contractual milestones and go/no-go gates, with a view to validating ESA’s milestone or gate acceptance;
- proactively monitoring relevant schedules, identifying risk and problem areas and proposing mitigation actions;
- identifying, leading and efficiently coordinating and deploying specialised engineering support from the Directorate of Technology, Engineering and Quality and the Directorate of Operations in the appropriate areas of competence as required;
- assisting in the preparation of relevant documentation for decision-making bodies;
- contributing to European Launcher Challenge outreach, in coordination with the space transportation communication services;
You will be coordinating your activities with related activities carried out under other programmes in the Directorate and throughout the Agency.

Education
A master's degree or equivalent qualification in an engineering discipline is required for this post.
Additional requirements
Experience in industry-driven commercialisation programmes and in cooperation with the European Union would be an asset.

In principle, recruitment will be within the advertised grade band (A2-A4). However, if the selected candidate has less than four years of relevant professional experience following the completion of the master’s degree, the position may be filled at A1 level.
Applicants must be eligible to access information, technology, and hardware which is subject to European or US export control and sanctions regulations & eligible to acquire the security clearance by their national security administrations.
During the recruitment process, the Agency may request applicants to undergo selection tests. Additionally, successful candidates will need to undergo basic screening before appointment, which will be conducted by an external background screening service, in compliance with the European Space Agency's security procedures.
