Northrop Grumman is seeking a DOORS Database Engineer Level T02. As part of Northrop Grumman’s Tactical Space System Division (TSSD), this position will be located at our Space Systems Sector campus in McClean, VA. The qualified candidate will be part of the DOORS Tool Database Engineers team and provide support to our TSSD Civil Space Systems Group. 

Roles and Responsibilities:

In this role, under the supervision of a DOORS Team Lead and HALO program’s Requirements and Verification Team, you will provide support for requirements management utilizing IBM Rational Dynamic Object-Oriented Requirements System (DOORS) as the administrator on the program. Responsibilities include DOORS importing/exporting, updating training materials, and acting as an interface to other DOORS users (internal and external), managing account access, and creating archives.

As the Database administrator on the programs you may also design, develop, build, analyze, evaluate, and install database management systems to include database modeling and design, relational database architecture, metadata and repository creation and configuration management. You will us data mapping, data mining and data transformational analysis tools to design and develop databases. You will determine data storage and optimum storage requirements. You could be required to help prepare system requirements, source analysis and process analyses and design throughout the database implementation.

Responsibilities Include:

  • General frequent use and application of technical standards, principles, theories, concepts, and techniques. Be capable to demonstrates the skill and ability to perform moderately complex professional tasks.
  • As part of a program team, will provides solutions to a variety of technical problems of increasing scope and complexity as assigned.
  • Under lead supervision, work outputs are reviewed for soundness of technical judgment, overall adequacy, and accuracy.
  • Will contributes to the completion of milestones associated with the HALO program.
  • Occasionally, interacting with a variety of internal customers on routine matters.
  • Maintaining consistent practices within the DOORS environment, which includes data created internal to programs and modules received from the customer and subcontractors.
  • Driving the completeness and consistency of attributes and linkages within programs’ DOORS environments.
  • Establishing strong working relationships and integrating across program and functions.
  • Performing DOORS administration; creating and synchronizing modules; exporting DOORS reports (e.g., specifications traceability and metrics); and working user problems (e.g., installation, use of Change Proposal System).
  • Occasionally, providing backup to other Database Engineers working on DOORS Infrastructure, programs, or product lines.

Basic Qualifications for System Engineer:

  • Bachelor’s degree in STEM with 2 years’ experience working with Requirements database; A Master's Degree; or 6 years of related experience in lieu of degree.
  • Independent problem-solving skills, strong analytical abilities, and creativity
  • Database archiving and user-access management to include importing data into a database
  • Training new users and creating training material on how to use the database
  • Must have US Citizenship with the ability to obtain a security clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Current or active Secret/TS Clearance
  • IBM DOORS Administration experience
  • IBM DOORS DXL scripting experience
  • Familiarity with Systems Engineering principles
  • Familiarity with PTC Windchill
  • Requirements and data management experience on large complex development programs
  • Experience coding in Microsoft Visual Basic for Applications (VBA)
  • Experience exporting DOORS data using IBM Rational Publishing Engine or Engineering Lifecycle Optimization Publishing
  • Experience with IBM DOORS NextGen
  • Experience with Tableau or willing to learn the tool
  • Experience working across multiple classification levels and program

Salary Range: $89,400.00 - $134,200.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
