The Director of supply chain is responsible for developing, managing, and optimising the global supply chain strategy across multiple sites to align with the organisation’s strategic direction, and drive commercial alignment across the Supply Base. 

 

We are looking for a highly capable and commercially minded Supply Chain Commercial Lead with deep expertise in contracting, negotiation, and statement of work (SOW) development. This role will serve as the commercial anchor for our supply chain function, ensuring that supplier relationships, third-party services, and strategic sourcing initiatives are governed by robust, value-driven contracts that protect the business and drive results. 

 

The role will help define the make buy strategy for the organisation, maintain the performance and relationships with key suppliers and sub-contractors, ensures that supply chain processes are efficient, cost-effective, and aligned with the company’s overall business objectives.   This includes overseeing purchasing, procurement, contract alignment, logistics, inventory management. 

1. Commercial Leadership 

  • Deliver the optimal contractual and cost outcomes for the business  
  • Ensure contracts are aligned with operational needs, commercial objectives, and legal compliance. 
  • Lead the creation, negotiation, and execution of supplier contracts, MSAs, and Statements of Work. 
  • Act as the commercial point of contact for all third-party engagements within supply chain operations. 
  • Develop and maintain contract templates, playbooks, and negotiation frameworks aligned with legal and procurement policies. 
  • Statement of Work (SOW) Leadership, review, and negotiate SOWs that clearly define scope, deliverables, milestones, KPIs, and pricing models. 
  • Work closely with all stakeholders (procurement, legal, operations) to ensure that all commercial terms in SOWs are accurate and enforceable. 
  • Mitigate risks by ensuring appropriate provisions for performance management, penalties, change control, and exit strategies. 
  • Identify opportunities for value creation, cost savings, and improved terms through proactive contract and SOW management. 
  • Analyze total cost of ownership (TCO) and contract performance metrics to inform decision-making. 

2. Supply Chain Management 

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive supply chain strategy to meet business objectives. 
  • Key role in defining Make Buy strategy and alignment of strategic suppliers and Sub-Con partners. 
  • Analyse and forecast supply chain trends, ensuring alignment with market conditions and business goals. 
  • Lead initiatives to streamline supply chain processes, reduce costs, and improve efficiency. 
  • Work with product development and manufacturing to drive step change in landed product costing. 

3. Procurement and Vendor Management 

  • Direct sourcing strategies and validate approvals of all new suppliers, both internally and through Sub Contractors. 
  • Oversee procurement operations to ensure timely and cost-effective sourcing of materials and services. 
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors and suppliers, negotiating contracts to secure favourable terms. 
  • Monitor supplier performance and address issues related to quality, delivery, pricing and conducting regular reviews and audits. 

4. Inventory and Demand Planning 

  • Deliver internal and 3rd party inventory management strategies to optimise stock levels and reduce waste. 
  • Collaborate with sales and operations teams to forecast demand and align supply plans accordingly. 
  • Implement systems and tools for accurate demand planning and inventory control. 

5. Logistics and Distribution 

  • Ensure compliance to all import export regulatory requirements and provide guidance to the business operations. 
  • Oversee logistics operations, including warehousing, transportation, and distribution. 
  • Ensure on-time delivery of products to customers while minimizing transportation costs. 
  • Optimize the supply chain network for scalability and efficiency. 

6. Leadership and Team Development 

  • Build and lead a high-performing supply chain team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement. 
  • Provide mentorship, training, and development opportunities for team members. 
  • Set clear performance goals and monitor progress. 

7. Compliance and Risk Management 

  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and industry standards. 
  • Identify and mitigate supply chain risks, including disruptions and cybersecurity threats. 
  • Implement robust health, safety, and environmental practices within the supply chain. 

Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field or appropriate industry experience. 
    • 10+ years of experience in leadership roles working with global suppliers, CMs, and contract manufacturing strategies within automotive, aerospace, space, satellite, electronics, medical devices, or consumer products manufacturing. 
    • Experience with PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) and proven track record in scaling products from R&D to mass production in high-volume manufacturing environments. 
    • Proven track record of implementing supply chain strategies in multi-site industries that drive cost savings and efficiency. 
    • Ability to manage multi-million-dollar capital investment projects. 
    • Experience with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems and supply chain management software. 
    • Strong knowledge of DFM/DFA, materials, tooling, and manufacturing technologies (e.g., injection molding, machining, assembly, electronics). 
    • Preferred Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field. 
    • Strong problem-solving skills using Six Sigma, Lean, and root cause analysis methodologies. 
    • Excellent leadership and stakeholder management skills. 
    • Exposure to ISO, FDA, ITAR and other regulatory standards.
