Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems has an opening for an experienced – Engineer Software (T02) – Software Integration & Test Automation Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in El Segundo, CA; Palmdale, CA; or Rancho Bernardo, CA.
Candidates will work on software supporting various space, aircraft, and ground systems in all phases of the software development lifecycle including design, development, and test.
Essential Functions:

  • Knowledge of, and experience working in, all phases for the Software Development Lifecycle
  • Analyze requirements allocated to computer software configuration items (CSCI).
  • Design, development, maintenance, and execution of automated software tests for qualification of embedded software products
  • Experienced in working in a lab environment on an Agile project

The selected candidate must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, collaborative/team settings across all levels and adapt to change. The position requires working knowledge of the full development life-cycle processes that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Candidate must exhibit strong leadership characteristics in coordinating with multiple teams and managing tasks. The role will be a hybrid of significantly diverse assignments in a collaborative/team setting across all levels. The candidate must be able to develop and execute software installation, integration, and acceptance test procedures in an automated test environment. The candidate must be able to develop detailed, clear, and concise quality technical documentation. Candidate should be skilled in software integration planning and execution of separate software components into a single system. Candidate will work with software developers and other engineers, as needed, to help diagnose and identify the root cause of problems found during software installation, integration, acceptance test, and operational events. Candidate will submit detailed problem reports for errors found. Candidate must be comfortable in both development, lab, and operational environments, as well as be able to collaborate closely with system engineers, hardware designers, integration/test engineers, and program leadership.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in: Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering
  • 2 Years with BS; 0 Years with Masters
  • Knowledge with Agile Framework
  • Knowledge implementing software and scripts in one or more Object Oriented Programming languages: C/C++, C#, OR Java, AND Python
  • Knowledge with Software Change Control, Change Management, and CI/CD tools such as: Atlassian tool suite, GitHub, GitLab, AND/OR Jenkins
  • Knowledge with Testing Methodologies, Frameworks, and Automated Testing using: GoogleTest, TestComplete, Cucumber, Atlas, Eggplant Automation, Unit Test Factory, ATF (Automated Test Framework), Robot within the last 3 years
  • Knowledge Architecting, Designing, Modeling (Rhapsody or Cameo), Implementing, Maintaining, Integrating, Debugging, Verifying and Qualifying Safety-Critical Embedded Real Time Software OR Command & Control Software written in OO C++ running on Real-Time Operating Systems such as: VxWorks, Integrity, AND/OR Real Time Embedded Linux
  • Active DoD Top Secret (in-scope), with the ability to obtain (and maintain) special program access (PAR) prior to commencement of employment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Differentiating characteristics include demonstrated leadership, teamwork capabilities, strong time management, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Availability to support occasional travel
  • Knowledge implementing software and scripts in programming language: JavaScript

Salary Range: $89,400.00 - $134,200.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
