Job description
We are looking for an experienced Head of IT & Business Systems (IT&BS) to lead the delivery and management of our expanding IT infrastructure, Business Support systems and tools and service for ReOrbit. This will include working with talented teams and external suppliers / customers and managing a portfolio of activity across the company.
The Head of IT&BS is responsible for leading the global IT function, overseeing infrastructure, systems architecture, business tools and support across all company sites. This includes designing and maintaining a secure and efficient digital environment that supports the unique needs of space R&D, manufacturing, and corporate operations.
The role will be both strategic and hands-on, balancing future-focused planning with real-time operational support. You will work closely with the Head of Security. This role is based in Helsinki, Finland, and offers an exciting opportunity to grow together with ReOrbit on its upward trajectory. Key Responsibilities:
Infrastructure & Operations
- Oversee global IT infrastructure, including data centres, cloud services, networks, and end-user computing.
- Manage and evolve our business systems to ensure best use of available products
- Ensure high availability and reliability of IT&BS systems supporting both office environments and specialised facilities (labs, clean rooms, etc.).
- Manage global IT&BS operations including helpdesk, endpoint management, and systems administration.
Cybersecurity & Compliance
- Work closely with Head of Security to enforce robust cybersecurity policies and incident response plans.
- Ensure compliance with data protection regulations and industry standards (e.g., ISO, NIST, ITAR, GDPR).
- Conduct / Support regular audits, penetration tests, and vulnerability assessments.
Business Systems
- Oversee enterprise applications including communication tools, ERP, PLM, and collaboration platforms.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to identify and implement technology solutions that enable R&D, manufacturing, and logistics.
Team Building & Vendor Management
- Build, mentor, and lead a distributed IT&BS team across regions and functions.
- Manage vendors and service providers, ensuring performance and cost-effectiveness.
Support for Specialised Environments
- Design and support IT&BS systems tailored for clean rooms and laboratory operations, including secure data handling and equipment connectivity.
- Collaborate closely with engineering, facilities, and compliance teams to ensure technical and regulatory alignment.
Skills and Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field.
- 10+ years of progressive IT experience, with at least 10 years in a senior leadership role in a complex, international environment.
- Proven experience supporting R&D, lab, or manufacturing environments—ideally in aerospace, biotech, or high-tech industries.
- Proven experience of implementing and running high quality service management frameworks that scale to the company needs
- Deep understanding of cybersecurity best practices and global IT compliance standards.
- Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure), ERP/PLM systems, and network architecture.
- Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Willingness to travel to international sites as needed.
- Motivated and eager to contribute, learn, and grow with ReOrbit as a company and team.
