MACHINE MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR
The Equipment Maintenance Operations team is responsible for ensuring production-facing critical assets are operating and maintained effectively across SpaceX production lines. They tackle the most complex and difficult system repairs, execute effective preventative maintenance plans, work with a variety of automated industrial equipment types, and are the resident experts in system troubleshooting. They are a vertically integrated tactical team that, daily, solve some of the most difficult and time-sensitive SpaceX production problems.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure that critical industrial equipment and flight hardware interfacing production systems are functioning, well-maintained, and operating effectively for efficient production operations
- Coordinating support for execution of corrective and preventative maintenance plans, synchronizing with production teams and end users to ensure work is completed prior to planned due dates for service
- Ensuring operational feedback is provided to maintenance and design engineering to help drive process changes and cut down on non-value-add maintenance/repair work
- Offer opportunities across teams for technical cross-training, ensure technicians are provided training opportunities when necessary and are accountable for renewing certifications when needed
- Detail and promote strict safety protocols for hazardous equipment work, LOTO procedures, lifting operations, and oversized tool movement
- Coordinate with external service contractors, equipment vendors, and part suppliers to ensure maintenance and operational expectations are met daily
- Actively work to reduce dependency on external rebuild/repair support when justified
- Drive shop improvement projects to help promote effective operations, ensure fast-acting response to common system repairs, and organize line-side and consumable spares hardware as needed
- Ensure team members understand how to properly pull spares from inventory, consume goods, and can navigate online tools
- Collaborate with asset owners and end users to configure and maintain operator preventative maintenance plans
- Coordinate quick support for emergency repairs in high priority work centers
- Motivate team members to explore outside their comfort zone, be passionate about making existing systems better, and be excited to provide valuable technical feedback to engineering
- Provide valued technical insight to production teams, help with bettering processes as needed
- Providing schematic and documentation review to engineering as deemed appropriate, ensure open system work is not approved or executed without buyoff
- Be very involved in recruitment process for new job openings within the team
- Understand where team’s operational gaps are and recruit accordingly
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree or 4+ years of professional experience in a manufacturing/testing environment
- 1+ years of experience leading a team or project
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline
- Analytic thinker that gets to the root of problems and comes up with permanent solutions to remedy issues
- Detail oriented, organized, and able to demonstrate a high sense of urgency
- Ability to rapidly change priorities while working in a high-paced, challenging work environment
- Heavy experience w/ maintaining hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems; familiarity with control systems, ABB/Fanuc Robotics, and PLC diagnostics a plus
- Experience with variety of ground equipment such as tanks, pumps, valves, refrigerant systems, and power units
- Experience with high power test systems, motion control, specialty fluids loops, and thermal equipment a plus
- Strong interpersonal and diplomacy skills
- Advanced skill level using Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook), Smartsheet, Jira, and other organizational software
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to work at elevated heights occasionally (scissor lifts and articulated boom lifts)
- Physical effort including standing, lifting, and carrying equipment up to 30 lbs unassisted
- Ability to work in outdoor environments as needed
- Must be available to work extended hours and weekends as needed
- Willing to travel for short trips as needed, up to 10% travel
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
Pay range:
Supervisor: $105,000.00 - $135,000.00/per year
Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.
Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX.
