Job description

At Relativity Space, we have two audacious goals: to build the next great commercial launch company with Terran R and to become America's leading force in additive manufacturing innovation. Both contribute to our long-term vision of creating humanity’s industrial base on Mars, paving the way for interplanetary life to expand the possibilities of the human experience. This journey begins right here on Earth – where we design, build, and fly rockets to deliver customer payloads to orbit. Terran R, our medium-to-heavy lift reusable rocket, fulfills the growing demand for launch capacity, thanks to our iterative approach that accelerates design, testing, and development while minimizing costs. While our groundbreaking research and development in 3D printing pushes the boundaries of large-scale additive manufacturing.

Your journey with us is more than just a job – it’s an opportunity to shape the future of aerospace technology, additive manufacturing, and the human experience alongside a community of passionate, creative individuals. Join us on this extraordinary journey, as we work together to transform our vision into reality.

About the Team:

Terrestrial Software is the central nervous system of Relativity Space, powering design, manufacturing, testing, and launch through a unified stack of enterprise applications, factory automation, and ground systems. Our goal is instant data accessibility and automated decision-making embedded in every workflow, removing friction and enabling fast, intelligent company-wide operations.

About the Role:

On the Industrial Automation Software team, you will play a key role in the software development life cycle from initial concept, trade studies, design, implementation, root cause analysis and production ready roll out.

  • Follow Agile development practices and implement quality software that is continuously integrated and deployable.
  • Solve complex problems using simple, elegant solutions. Your work will power software that operates factory systems, validates development hardware, tests engines, and launches rockets.
  • Develop user interfaces that are used across the company from component testing, engine testing, launch control systems, and elsewhere.

About You:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a related Engineering field (Computer, Software, Electrical, Aerospace) or Computer Science.
  • 5+ years of experience in one of more of the following areas:
    • Designing and implementing low-level architectures optimized for real-time hardware control.
    • Developing responsive user interfaces and data backends to manage safety-critical systems.
    • Building comprehensive test and simulation environments
  • Proficient in C/C++, Rust, or Go.
  • Familiarity with continuous integration and agile methodologies in high-performance environments.

Nice to haves but not required:

  • Experience with microservices architecture tailored for high-performance, distributed systems.
  • Experience managing high-volume, low-latency data flows.
  • Knowledge of synchronization primitives, memory management, and systems-level performance optimization.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and deploy safety-critical software with direct hardware interfaces.
  • Experience debugging and shipping complex software products across extensive, multi-platform codebases.

Successful candidates must clear a background check administered by the US government to obtain clearance for on-site work at our government partner location in Stennis, Mississippi.
