The Associate Director, Business Development, is a key member of the Ursa Major Business Development team responsible for a portfolio of products and services within an Integrated Product Team (IPT). To deliver results, the BD leader will work with Growth and Product teams to jointly develop and execute capture and proposal strategies to meet multi-year bookings, revenue, and profitability goals.
Responsibilities:
- Manage a pipeline of business opportunities within an IPT – leading from opportunity identification to contract signing.
- Develop compelling and winning proposals tailored to customer needs while managing the proposal development process and collaborating cross functionally with other stakeholders (Program Management, Finance, Legal, Engineering, Operations, etc).
- Communicate with customers to tell the Ursa Major story while matching product offerings with customer needs; represent the “voice of the customer” to internal Ursa Major stakeholders.
- Review opportunities with executive and senior leadership through gate approval processes and other weekly/monthly opportunity status updates.
- Develop a detailed working knowledge of product and service offerings to support shaping customer opportunities in collaboration with senior / executive growth team members.
- Represent Ursa Major at external events such as tradeshows, conferences, and customer meetings.
Role Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree – prefer engineering or technical field, but open to related fields with equivalent defense or military experience
- Strong written and verbal communication, collaboration and influencing skills.
- Demonstrated ability to execute winning growth strategies to secure new business
- 7+ years’ experience in customer-facing role related to DoD acquisition, defense business development, or proposal management
- Comfortable working in fast-paced, startup environment
- Passion for the intersection of technology, product, customer, and business management.
- Strong critical thinking skills and an innate desire and hunger to win.
- Understanding of financial dynamics (bookings, sales, profit, and cash) with a focus on driving strategies and tactical execution to enable growth.
Colorado law requires us to tell you the base compensation range of this role, which is $140,000- $190,000, determined by your education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities. The salary range for this role is intentionally wide as we are evaluating individuals based on their unique experience and abilities to fit our needs.
