Our world-class team includes experts in all aspects of spacecraft subsystems design, development, and test, on-orbit operations, and safety.
We are seeking an experienced Senior Power Subsystem Engineer to design, analyze, and develop power systems and power supplies for our advanced space vehicles. This role requires deep expertise in power electronics, energy storage, power distribution, and space-qualified power systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical or power engineering.
Responsibilities:
- Work on the design and development of power subsystem architectures, including solar arrays, batteries, power distribution units (PDUs), and energy management systems for space vehicles.
- Perform detailed power budgeting, modeling, and analysis to ensure optimal performance and reliability in extreme space environments.
- Develop and validate space-rated power conversion systems, including DC-DC converters, inverters, and power control electronics.
- Design and integrate high-reliability battery systems, ensuring compliance with space-grade safety and operational standards.
- Work closely with systems engineers, thermal engineers, and avionics teams to integrate power systems into overall spacecraft architecture.
- Define and execute test plans, including functional, environmental, and qualification testing of power subsystems.
- Ensure designs meet relevant NASA, ESA, and commercial spaceflight standards and requirements.
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for power system anomalies during development and mission operations.
- Technical Leadership: Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers, supporting a culture of innovation and excellence.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's or master's degree in electrical engineering, Power Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 10+ years of experience in the design and development of power subsystems for space applications.
- Strong expertise in spacecraft power electronics, solar power generation, battery management, and power distribution.
- Proficiency with power analysis tools such as PSpice, MATLAB/Simulink, and electrical CAD software.
- In-depth understanding of radiation effects, electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), and thermal considerations in space environments.
- Experience with power system testing, verification, and validation processes.
- Familiarity with space industry standards such as NASA-STD-4003, ECSS-E-ST-20-20, and MIL-STD-461.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Preferred Requirements:
- Experience with lunar or deep-space power systems.
- Knowledge of energy harvesting techniques for space missions.
- Hands-on experience with high-voltage and high-power systems for space applications.
