About the Role
The Sr Payroll Specialist is responsible for managing and overseeing the payroll process to ensure timely and accurate payment of wages, tax withholdings, and employee deductions. This role involves preparing and reconciling payrolls, direct deposit files, labor, and payroll postings. The Sr Payroll Specialist will also provide effective guidance and training to junior team members, ensuring compliance with payroll policies, procedures, and applicable regulations.Key Responsibilities:
Manage and oversee the end-to-end payroll process, ensuring timely and accurate calculations of wages,
tax withholdings, and employee deductions.
Prepare and reconcile payrolls, direct deposit files, labor, and payroll postings.
Ensure compliance with payroll policies and procedures, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP),
and applicable regulations, including the Fair Labor Standards Act, Federal and State laws relating to payroll
taxes, and various state employment and pay requirements.
Provide effective guidance and training to junior team members, fostering a collaborative and
knowledgeable team environment.
Utilize payroll software tools and MS Excel to manage payroll data and generate reports.
Address and resolve payroll-related inquiries and issues in a timely and professional manner.
Collaborate with HR and Finance departments to ensure accurate and efficient payroll processing.
Stay updated on changes in payroll laws and regulations to ensure ongoing compliance.

Minimum Qualifications:
Requires Bachelor's degree in a related field (or equivalent work experience in lieu of degree or Masters +4 yrs experience).
Typically, 6+ years of related experience.
Experience with payroll software tools, as well as with MS Excel.
Deep knowledge of payroll policies and procedures, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), and
applicable regulations, including understanding of the Fair Labor Standards Act, Federal and State laws
relating to payroll taxes, and various state employment and pay requirements.
Experience with accurate calculations of wages, tax withholdings, and employee deductions.
Experience preparing and reconciling payrolls, direct deposit files, labor, and payroll postings.
Ability to provide effective guidance and training to junior team members.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field.
Certification: Certified Payroll Professional (CPP).
Proficiency in advanced features of payroll software and MS Excel.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Familiarity with payroll best practices and compliance requirements.
Experience in preparing and presenting payroll reports to senior management.
Compensation:
Salary Range: $82,995 - $114,125
