Northrop Grumman Space Systems has an opening for Director, Space Systems Capture Management to join our Sector Business Development (BD) team. This leader operates as a capture executive for Enterprise and Sector Priority pursuits across the Space Sector Portfolio.
The preferred location for this position is Space Park, CA. At least 25% travel is required.
The Director, Space Systems Capture Management will work as an integral part of the Space Systems Sector BD team, focused on:
- Planning capture efforts from initial opportunity interest brief through award and building the requisite team
- Achieving and maintaining Executive support through Sprint/Status Reviews, Gate Reviews, and signoffs,
- Developing insight into customer needs, wants, and concerns leveraging and partnering with the BD team and other capabilities within the enterprise,
- Developing capture strategies (including offering approach, shaping, and advocacy) based on customers, competitors, and the Business Case to improve the probability of acquiring profitable business,
- Developing a technical and programmatic offering, including strategic sourcing, to meet schedule and PTW targets with acceptable risk,
- Leading/supporting advocacy councils led by Corporate Government Relations to improve capture success,
- Identifying and testing critical assumptions,
- Leading the capture team through the transition into a proposal team and executing the proposal,
- Lead and conduct independent assessments (including NAR/ICE) to improve capture success.

Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree with 15+ years of experience in Aerospace & Defense, 10+ years of experience with government contracting and acquisitions, and 10+ years of experience successfully leading/managing a team.
- Established credibility and demonstrated expertise in capture strategy and execution.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to execute initiatives with urgency, accuracy and efficiency will be required.
- Technical Fluency
- Knowledge of and relationships with key space customers in the Department of Defense, National Security, and Civilian communities.
- Demonstrated experience as a capture leader on multiple competitive captures, preferably with key space customers in the Department of Defense, National Security, and Civilian communities.
- Experience leading business development engagements with government customers
- Experience leading a proposal or being a senior leader in a large proposal.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain high-level clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Multi-Division or Multi-Sector Capture Experience
- Experience with the DOD and National Security acquisition processes, including supporting processes such as requirements development and budgeting.
- Experience engaging in discussions about space-based mission capability, system architecture, and technology.
- 5+ years developing, maintaining, and executing strategic plans
- Active Top Secret/SCI security clearance.
