ABOUT FIREFLY AEROSPACE

This position will sit in our Environmental Test Lab in Leander, TX.
SUMMARY
We are looking for an Environmental Test Technician to join the Environmental Test Lab as part of the Advanced Materials department at Firefly Aerospace. You will apply your skill of utilizing thermal chambers, vibration tables, shock tables, and thermal-vacuum chambers to support design, manufacturing, and testing activities by the company.
The candidate must be a self-starter who works well in a team environment and has excellent interpersonal skills. The candidate will form an integral part of a team of engineers and technicians that will be a focal point for the company. The candidate will be expected to learn the testing processes, apply their knowledge, maintain good record-keeping, and have good working relationships with team members.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provides technical support for running test equipment in the Environmental Test Lab, not limited to thermal chambers, vibration tables, shock tables, and thermal vacuum chambers
- Set up and tear down of test equipment for each test
- Ensures that all work performed is properly and completely documented in preparation for QA inspection
- Reads and interprets test procedures, process controls, schematics, wiring diagrams, specifications, drawings, manuals, blueprints, and engineering sketches
- Provides feedback to engineering on quality, discrepancy identification and process and design improvements
- Complies with the company FOD program, tool control program, 5-S program, and all safety regulations
- Self-monitors work progress against area benchmarks and achieve on time delivery of all work
- Collaborate with test engineers to troubleshoot failures and issues derived from test data
- Performs other related duties, as assigned, for ensuring an efficient and effective work environment
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
- This postition will be training on first shift for up to 6 months, then will transition to second shift.
- Hands on testing experience (dynamic and thermal environments) in an environmental test lab or college lab.
- Training and/or experience in basic operation of an oscilloscope & multimeter, soldering wires & connectors, wire stripping, ohm’s law, continuity testing, drilling & tapping holes, torque wrenches, DC power supplies, tape measures
- Software/Computer Skills including Windows Operating Systems, and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook.)
- Ability to stand on feet for extended periods of time, lift 10-20 pounds regularly and 50-100 pounds occasionally
Desired
- A.S. in Metrology, Instrumentation, Physics, Math, Engineering, Technology or other STEM related field
- Previous experience with a related industry utilizing MIL-STD-810G, SMC-S-016 or similar
- Knowledge of one or more high-level general-purpose programming languages including but not limited to LabVIEW and Python
- Experience building test racks and rack enclosures
