Do you want to help shape the future of space exploration?

There’s a place for you at Lunar Outpost Oceania the industry leader in mobility platforms for the lunar surface and in-situ resource utilisation. We are seeking a talented and experienced RF Communications Engineer to help define the future of lunar surface communications in a fast-paced, startup-style environment.

In this role, you’ll be instrumental in designing, testing and validating cutting-edge radio frequency (RF) systems and subsystems for spaceflight applications. You’ll be contributing to a wide range of challenging and innovative projects, many of which are the first of their kind.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and development of RF communication systems for lunar surface platforms
  • Integration of RF subsystems into spaceflight hardware and robotic systems
  • Antenna design, simulation and testing for space-based applications
  • Conducting hardware validation including link budget analysis, EMI/EMC testing and radiation tolerance assessment
  • Supporting the manufacture and assembly of RF components and circuit boards
  • Collaborating across engineering disciplines to ensure end-to-end system performance
  • Troubleshooting and resolving complex RF system issues across development and qualification phases

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field
  • 3+ years of industry experience in RF systems design and testing
  • Demonstrated experience in RF circuit and PCB design
  • Familiarity with modulation schemes, RF filtering, impedance matching and communication protocols
  • Experience with testing and qualification standards, including EMI/EMC and radiation effects
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to lead and guide RF hardware development

Desired Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in a startup and/or aerospace environment
  • Flexibility to manage and prioritise multiple projects in a fast-moving setting
  • Experience with radiation-hardened RF components and upset mitigation techniques
  • Knowledge of space communication standards and regulatory compliance

At Lunar Outpost, we believe in building a respectful and inclusive environment. We are an equal opportunity employer and do not discriminate on the basis of gender, age, race, sexual orientation, religion, disability, or any other protected attribute.

Everyone on our team — from leadership to new hires — is expected to uphold a culture of professionalism, integrity and collaboration.
