Job description

At Turion Space, we’re on a mission to secure Earth and expand humanity’s reach beyond it. We’re developing spacecraft for national security, in-space servicing, and orbital debris removal. As we prepare for upcoming launches and expand our portfolio of government and commercial programs, we’re looking for an R&D Engineering Technical Project Manager to drive the execution of complex hardware and software development programs. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage electrical and sensor development projects, including PCBs, vehicle systems, interconnect design as well as optical systems —from planning through launch readiness. 
  • Drive detailed project planning, including scope definition, schedules, budgets, milestones, and deliverables. 
  • Coordinate execution across internal engineering teams, suppliers, and partners to ensure timelines and technical goals are met. 
  • Identify risks early, manage tradeoffs, and implement mitigation strategies to keep programs on track. 
  • Act as the connective tissue between technical execution and program goals, ensuring alignment between engineering detail and broader mission objectives. 
  • Maintain high-quality project documentation, including status updates, RAID logs, and post-project reviews. 
  • Collaborate closely with program management, product, QA, and leadership teams to support high-velocity decision making and program clarity. 

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Minimum Qualifications 
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, engineering management, or a related field 
  • 4+ years of project management experience with a strong track record of leading complex technical projects OR 
  • 2+ years of electrical engineering experience in design, test, or manufacturing with history of working on projects from concept to execution 
  • Familiarity with the development process for electrical hardware and systems 
  • Proficiency with project management tools and methodologies (Agile, Scrum, Waterfall, Jira, MS Project) 
  • Excellent communication, organization, and collaboration skills across engineering and leadership audiences 
  • The ability to obtain and maintain an active Secret or TS/SCI clearance 
 
Preferred Qualifications 
  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Systems Engineering and/or MBA 
  • 6+ years of technical project management experience in the aerospace, defense, or advanced technology sector 
  • Experience managing government-funded or DoD space programs 
  • Project management certifications such as PMP, CSM, or PMI-ACP 
  • Strong familiarity with satellite systems, in-space servicing, or mission ops 
  • Active DoD Secret or Top Secret clearance

To conform to U.S. Government export regulations, applicant must be a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (aka green card holder), (iii) Refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157, or (iv) Asylee under 8 U.S.C. § 1158,  or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
