Duties We are seeking a hands-on leader to develop our material management capabilities in collaboration with our production, planning and warehouse teams to support the company’s growth objectives. You will establish and continuously improve processes and collaborate with our manufacturing, supply chain, engineering and finance teams to ensure the right parts and supplies are available at the right place, in right quantities at the right time. You will implement KPIs (key performance indicators) on the shop floor in collaboration with production and drive actions to improve these KPIs. You will leverage our ERP system and contribute to implementation of new functionalities, enhancements and technologies to improve material traceability and employee productivity.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Duties We are seeking a hands-on leader to develop our material management capabilities in collaboration with our production, planning and warehouse teams to support the company’s growth objectives. You will leverage our ERP system and contribute to implementation of new functionalities, enhancements and technologies to improve material traceability and employee productivity.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop, maintain and monitor execution of monthly build plan for each production Gate in collaboration with production and engineering.
- Partner with planning team to ensure work orders are created per monthly build plan through supermarket location verification and auditing.
- Collaborate with warehouse team to ensure material is kitted and issued to production per monthly build plan and in accordance with supermarket and kanban logic.
- Maintain list of material shortages per SV, cell and supermarket location as provided by planning. conduct shortage mitigation meetings with supply chain to ensure supplier deliveries meet “need dates” per build plan.
- Develop and implement process to move material from warehouse to storage on shop floor, and between work cells with same-day (eventually real-time) system updates.
- Develop and implement standard process for controlling and actively managing material swaps between SVs to ensure ERP information is in synch with physical material movement.
- Implement visual WIP tracking in collaboration with production supervisors for all Gates.
- Implement visual controls of material availability and issues by build cell.
- Coordinate outsourced vendor deliveries, including for PCBAs, flight harnesses, and structural components, to ensure material availability supports build plan.
- Implement visual controls for tracking of material sent to vendors or out-of-cell processes with daily coordination with supply chain to ensure material availability.
- Publish regular reports that track status of production builds, material shortages with mitigation actions, outsourced vendor performance and other key metrics.
- Support development operations at Wazee and Potomac with material procurement, and management.
- Support warehouse and planning teams as needed on special projects, to include generating Standard Work, and assisting with staff training and adaptation of new warehouse processes.
- Participate in and lead kaizen activities to improvement material management traceability, flexibility and shop processes.
- Contribute to scoping, implementation and testing of ERP enhancements that improve system functionality, usability and linkage of material and information flow in the system.
- Actively participate and help lead the implementation of a cycle count program.
- Serve as subject matter expert and leader during quarterly, semi-annual, as well as annual Physical Inventory.
QUALIFICTAIONS:
- Bachelors degree in Science or Engineering with at least 10 years of relevant experience
- 5 years of experience in inventory / warehouse management
- 5 years of experience with an ERP system
- Hands on experience with applying Lean Manufacturing in a manufacturing and/or warehousing facility
- Comfort with ambiguity, influencing and working collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
- Structured thinker with ability to implement processes for speed and repeatability
- Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written) across multiple levels of the organization
- Background in Aviation or Aerospace a plus
