Northrop Grumman, Strategic Space Systems Division, has an opening for a Manager Production Planning Scheduling 2 to join our team of highly qualified and diverse individuals. This position will be located in Redondo Beach, California.

The Logistics department within the Materials, Process, Environmental Test and Logistics (MPETAL) center has a need for a Manager Production Planning Scheduling 2, with a position as a functional homeroom manager, leading a team of individual contributors.

Functional responsibilities include:

  • Staffing support to all space systems and space programs.

  • Conducting periodic performance evaluations, including mid-year and annual reviews

  • Providing technical leadership and guidance to the staff

  • Managing indirect and capital needs

  • Professional development and mentoring of direct reports

  • Supporting Functional Homeroom initiatives and projects which include process improvement, Event Response Teams, Corrective, and Preventive Action implementation

Program responsibilities include:

Process Improvement:

  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives to optimize production processes.

  • Evaluate and recommend process enhancements to increase productivity and reduce waste.

  • Lead cross-functional teams to streamline workflows and improve efficiency.

Resource Allocation:

  • Determine the necessary resources required for program support needs.

  • Allocate resources effectively to meet production targets while minimizing costs.

  • Monitor resource usage and adjust allocations as needed to address changing priorities.

  • Regularly monitor the ratio of support costs to production costs. Support costs encompass all ancillary expenses essential for maintaining and optimizing our production capabilities.

Team Leadership:

  • Supervise and mentor production control staff, providing guidance and support as needed.

  • Foster a collaborative and positive work environment that encourages teamwork and innovation.

  • Conduct performance reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members.

Logistics Management:

  • Oversee the transportation and storage of raw materials, WIP and finished goods.

  • Ensure materials are handled, stored, and transported in compliance with safety and quality standards.

  • Optimize logistics processes to reduce costs and improve delivery times.

Supply Chain Coordination:

  • Collaborate with the procurement team.

  • Ensure seamless communication and coordination between production and procurement departments.

  • Address and resolve any supply chain disruptions that could impact production.

Cycle Time:

  • Monitor metrics on production control process spans.

  • Objective: Identify bottlenecks and areas where time can be reduced.

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree plus 6 years’ experience in logistics, hardware management, or related field within a production, planning, or scheduling environment OR Master’s Degree plus 4 years’ experience in logistics, hardware management, or related field within a production, planning or scheduling environment OR High School Diploma/General Education Diploma (G.E.D) plus 10 years’ experience in logistics, hardware management, or related field within a production, planning, or scheduling environment.

  • Working knowledge of LOOIE and AssetSmart.

  • Proven leadership experience on a project and/or team.  

  • Experience in the Aerospace and Defense Industry.   

  • Must have current and active TS/SCI clearance at time of application.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management or Business Administration.

  • Experience with Integration & Test, defense, aerospace or high-reliability product development industries.

  • Knowledge of project schedule baselining and scope definition

  • Experience with Solumina/MES and SAP/MRP.

  • Experience with MS Access and MS Project.

  • Experience with Flight Hardware and Configuration Management.

Salary Range: $117,600.00 - $176,400.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
