This position, located at the Kyoga Misaki Communications Site in Kyoto Prefecture, Japan, plays a crucial role in our mission to support the U.S. president, secretary of defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels.
Position Overview:
The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program integrates the Missile Defense System. It is a vital operational system that enables the U.S. president, secretary of defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels to systematically plan ballistic missile defense operations, observe the development of the battle collectively, and dynamically manage designated networked sensors and weapon systems to achieve global and regional mission objectives. C2BMC supports a layered missile defense capability, allowing for an optimized response to threats of all ranges and phases of flight. C2BMC serves as the force multiplier on both global and regional scales. Networks integrate and synchronize autonomous sensor and weapon systems and operations to optimize performance. C2BMC is integral to all system ground and flight tests, which verify and exercise all current and future missile defense system capabilities.
Selected SATCOM technicians will provide technical services support for a MET AN/GSC-52 satellite terminal in Kyoto, Japan.
Essential Functions:
- Responsible for operating, maintaining, monitoring, troubleshooting, and repairing Satellite Terminal systems, including connectivity to local and wide area networks, end-to-end telecommunications, circuit switching systems, and long-haul communications/transmission systems
- Analyzes capabilities and performance, identifies problems, and takes corrective actions to ensure the most efficient operations of the SATCOM equipment
- Monitors the status and performance of transmission/receive systems
- Quickly responds to circuit outages and coordinates with distant facilities and local systems/users, when necessary, to restore communication services
- Performs other duties and assignments as required
Basic Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related discipline preferred from an accredited university and 2 years of related experience, or a Master’s degree in a related discipline and 0 years of experience, or 6 years of related experience instead of a degree may be considered
- Applicants must possess a current active in-scope DoD-issued Secret security clearance at the time of application, which is required to start, with the ability to obtain Top Secret collateral clearance
- DoD 8140 certification at IAT Level II or higher (Security+ CE, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, SSCP, CCNA Security, etc.) is required to start
- Position requires 24x7 shift work, and will be assigned to a shift determined by mission requirements
- Must have strong skills and background in SATCOM principles, operations, maintenance, and repair
- Skilled in utilizing common SATCOM test equipment
- Must understand signal flow and end-to-end configuration diagrams for circuits
- Knowledge of network system administration
- Experience working with Microsoft operating system environments/platforms
- Familiarity with TACLANE encryption devices and crypto device loaders such as SKLs
- Familiarity with CISCO routers
- MET experience, HEMP hardening maintenance, and HEMP hardening testing experience
- Must have strategic and tactical satellite communications experience, with CCNA certification
- Basic Linux or RedHat-based server administration experience
- Basic experience with operations, preventative maintenance, and basic troubleshooting on generators
- EBEM experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Current and active in-scope DoD-issued Top Secret collateral clearance is highly preferred
- Prior military satellite communications technician, US Navy ET NEC 1465, US Air Force AFSC 2E1X1, US Army MOS 31S/25S, or US Marine Corps MOS 2827 PAAWNS experience

Salary Range: $73,900.00 - $110,900.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
