We are looking for you to join our team as a Principal Manufacturing Engineer based in Cape Canaveral, FL at the Space Force Station site.
You will support the manufacturing, repair/refurbishment, and testing of key aspects of the Strategic Weapons Systems Program. Your skills will be challenged working on various manufacturing processes for high-value assemblies, machined components, and welded fabrications. These processes could include precision manual assembly, welding, machining, bonding, finishing, and mechanical assembly.
What You'll Get to Do:
- Develop new processes, improve existing manufacturing processes, and develop the required tooling and fixtures with an excellent team of experienced assembly mechanics, machinists, welders and engineers (located in Cape Canaveral, Sunnyvale, Ca or other supporting locations).
- Evaluate existing manufacturing processes and systems to reduce costs, improve sustainability and develop best practices within the manufacturing environment.
- Develop efficient process flows and sequences of operations, optimize/develop production area layouts, manage bills of materials, create detailed work instructions, process procedures and tooling requirements with emphasis on safety, foreign object elimination and equipment/system maintenance.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and implementation of new capital equipment for establishing expanded production processes.
- Select roles will also support final acceptance testing of product and provide technical support to test facility operation as necessary.
- Support potentially, multiple production shifts (first, second, third shifts, and weekends) based on the assignment and current and future production schedules.
Basic Qualifications for the Principal Manufacturing Engineer:
- Bachelor's in a related STEM discipline with a minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience; (OR a Master's Degree in a STEM discipline with 3 or more years of relevant experience,).
- Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings.
- Experience in any or all the following: mechanical assembly processes, welding and machining.
- Experience with root cause problem solving and continuous improvement.
- Experience performing troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, electronic, and hydraulic systems.
- Experience managing processing documentation/design reviews.
- Experience with performing and coordinating non-conforming material review and disposition on discrepant hardware.
- Experience with technical writing.
- Ability to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance.
- US Citizenship required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience providing training and guidance during conduct of work performed by technicians.
- SAP S/4HANA Cloud ERP system experience
- Experience with a Manufacturing Execution System (MES)
- TeamCenter Mission Product Life-cycle Management experience
- Aerospace or defense product experience
- Process Performance Analysis (PRF, PI, PF) implementation experience.
- Process Capability Analysis (Cp, Cpk, Pp, Ppk) implementation experience.
- Experience supporting the receipt and shipment of material.
