EMBEDDED SOFTWARE ENGINEER
Orbion is seeking a Software Engineer with experience in embedded software development and real-time operating systems (RTOS) to design, develop, debug, and deploy flight and ground software for satellite propulsion systems. Join our growing team of talented software and electronic hardware engineers. The developer will gather user requirements, define system software functionality, and write code in various languages to build high-quality and innovative software that complies with coding standards and technical design guidelines to enable Orbion customer missions.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design and develop flight software for spacecraft plasma propulsion systems and electrical power control.
- Design and develop Windows-based software for manufacturing test, ground tools, and software verification/validation (V&V) tests
- Author software requirements and verification/validation plans.
- Author and maintain technical documentation.
- Interface with other functional organizations, especially flight hardware.
- Interface with customer software teams.
- Support and participate in production and laboratory propulsion system testing.
- Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Must meet definition of US Person.
- Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or directly related field, or at least 5 additional years of equivalent experience.
- 2+ years’ experience with embedded software, register-level programming, or real-time operating systems.
- 5+ years’ experience with C/C++
- 2+ years’ experience with software verification and validation test suite development.
- Experience with Git, Azure DevOps, or similar source code control and collaboration tools.
- An ability to collaborate in a team setting as well as be an active individual contributor.
- Willingness to travel on occasion (10%).
PREFFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Previous experience in the aerospace, medical, and/or defense industries.
- Previous experience writing software for flight and/or space programs.
- Experience in developing software to aerospace standards SAE AS9100/AS9115 or RTCA DO-178B/C.
- Experience with FPGA firmware (VHDL) development.
- Experience in Windows application development.
- Experience with measurement and test software/hardware, especially LabVIEW.
- Experience with data science, especially technical, data processing, retrieval, and presentation.
- Experience with Python.
