Northrop Grumman's Mission Enabling Products (MEP) designs, manufactures and operates small and medium-class spacecraft for communications, imaging, scientific, exploration and national security space applications. The Group is leading supplier of space components that power and enable satellites of all classes, provides technical engineering services to government agencies and laboratories, and is developing exciting new satellite servicing and advanced space flight technologies.

The Deployables Operating Unit within MEP is seeking a Production Controller 2 to join our team.  This position is located in Oxnard, CA.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintains schedules for material requirements and availability for the manufacture of industrial and commercial products to support production control.
  • Compiles records concerning quantity, cost, and type of material received, shipped, in stock or inventory, and/or in production.
  • Expedites flow of materials, parts, and assemblies within or between departments in accordance with production and shipping schedules.
  • Assists in determining possible and actual shortages may initiate action to correct these deficiencies.
  • Uses knowledge of production, procurement, and engineering departments to alert proper authorities regarding potential problems and appropriate remedial action.
  • Estimates and logs production rate and time expenditures and may be required to establish sequence and lead time of each operation to meet shipping dates.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 2 years of recent production control planning and scheduling experience within an aerospace manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrates understanding and is able to apply continuous improvement terminology/tools: LEAN, Six Sigma principles/Lean design principles, Value Stream, and Kaizen.
  • Must be able to walk or stand for extended periods of time as needed
  • Perform physical requirements of the position: using pallet jack or other equipment move parts weighing up to 45/50 lbs., as required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Proficiency with ERP Systems (Costpoint a plus)
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-directed, proactive
  • Follow written and verbal instruction
  • Manufacturing and Operations experience highly desired.
  • Microsoft Office Suite – Excel, Word, Visio and PowerPoint skills

Salary Range: $42,000.00 - $70,000.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
