Job description
a.i. solutions is seeking a highly motivated Voice Engineer to join our Expendable Launch Vehicle Integrated Support 3 (ELVIS3) team supporting NASA Launch Services Program (LSP) at Vandenberg Space Force Base (VSFB). This position requires technical engineering experience, with a demonstrated understanding and application of systems engineering and configuration management principals and process, mission planning/scheduling, as primary principal engineer. The candidate will demonstrate excellent communication skills and be effective at face-to-face interactions with customers and other contractors, to respond to requests for information, support technical meetings and technical interchanges. The candidate must be able to work independently and represent the program at meetings and working groups with government and associate contractors. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to embrace the a.i. solutions mission of always meeting customer requirements and usually exceeding their expectations.
Essential Roles & Responsibilities:
- System ownership and design, install, program, test, maintain, troubleshoot, repair and document hardware and software systems to include cabling, connectors, and other tangible system components.
- Serves as system owner and design point of contact for our voice infrastructure. Will provide engineering solutions as directed by NASA, management, and engineering.
- Lead and direct technicians fore assigned system.
- Ensures operational readiness and health.
- Ensures installation of assigned Communications and Telemetry hardware and software systems for operational readiness.
- Programming for hardware and software systems.
- Test and analyze hardware and software systems to establish system baselines and correct system failures.
- Maintain hardware and software systems to ensure operational readiness through system monitoring and periodic maintenance instructions.
- Troubleshoot hardware and software systems to isolate the root cause, develop solutions and provide status reports.
- Ensures repair processes for hardware and software systems per C&T engineering and/or vendor specifications.
- Creates necessary documentation to include, but not limited to, drawings, procedures, and spreadsheets to ensure proper implementation. Incorporates redlines to ensure accuracy and configuration management of hardware and software system documentation.
- Actively strive to further technical knowledge and abilities pertaining to the job.
- Perform all work within the scope of all company and government procedures of the contract.
- Participates or performs regularly scheduled project, system, and mission planning meetings.
Minimum Qualifications:
- U.S. Citizenship
- BA/BS degree in technical field and/or proven relevant work experience
- Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance and valid California Driverβs License
- Proven ability working in a team environment with excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Proven organizational and project management skills with the ability to multi-task
Desired Experience:
- NASA Launch Services Program experience
- Knowledge of systems engineering roles and functions, including requirements management, functional analysis, configuration management processes and procedures
- Knowledge of network architectures and command line configuration
- Experience with Network Management tools to ensure state of health
- Experience with scripting to automate processes and gather data
- Experience with IP level analysis
- Experience with Bit Error Rate Testing
- Experience with legacy TDM voice systems
- Experience with modern VoIP voice systems
- Demonstrated abilities to quickly learn new technologies to support the mission
- Demonstrated abilities to troubleshoot efficiently to identify root cause
- Ability to work on a team under pressure to meet strict schedule requirements
Additional Requirements:
- Must be able to frequently stand, sit, and walk short distances
- Must be able to lift, carry and install equipment (as identified in Essential Roles and Responsibilities) and run cable.
- Must be able to work safely in confined spaces.
- Must be able to support required shift work and overtime.
- Must be able to work with minimal supervision in the performance of all duties and responsibilities.
- Must be able to travel as required for operational and mission requirements.
- Perform duties and responsibilities that may at times be outside normal activities and assignments but are necessary to provide timely and required support to NASA, their customers, and the company.
