Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history.The selected manager will be the central point of contact for the Civil Space Systems (CSS) Systems Engineering (SE) organization for tracking all candidates through the recruiting and on-boarding process for CSS programs. Responsible for managing technical personnel assigned to a department (approximate staff size of 20), as well as ensuring qualified and appropriate personnel (and supporting design and analysis tools, etc.) are assigned to meet the staffing needs of CSS programs. Includes all aspects of staff management, including recruiting, hiring, onboarding, training, coaching/mentoring, career development, performance management, compensation management, and separation of assigned employees. The manager will also be the point of contact Systems Engineering process as applied to CSS programs. This position is located in Houston, TX.
In addition, the candidate will be a working Systems Engineer and/or Technical Leader on programs in the Civil Space Systems (CSS) business area – the split between direct (programs) and indirect is approximately 75%/25%. Regarding program assignments, the candidate will be responsible for technical, cost, and schedule requirements of pre-proposal efforts, proposal development, design and development, internal/customer design reviews, technical documentation, program implementation, launch and mission operations, and disposal.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems.
Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints.
Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) discipline with 9+ years, Masters Degree with 7 years or, PhD with 5 years
Strong experience in Systems Engineering for mission critical applications.
Experience leading, supporting, and operating NASA/JSC/MSFC/KSC space vehicles & Missions for at least 5-7 years.
Knowledge and experience with human rated space systems
Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government DoD security clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
Masters Degree
Strong experience in Systems Engineering for mission critical applications.
Strong experience as a Control Account Manager (CAM)
