This role is located in Melbourne, FL.

In this role, the successful candidate will work with the Systems Engineering lead to design solutions supporting multi-domain centered open architecture efforts and represent Northrop Grumman on the Ground Enhanced Mission Systems Standards Development (GEMS SD) consortium. The candidate should have experience in space-based operations with a preferred emphasis on mission planning, schema-based architecture concepts, and Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools.
We are looking for innovative thinkers who thrive in a fast-paced environment and are comfortable with multi-tasking, prioritizing tasks, giving verbal presentations, and self-educating without direct supervision. The candidate must have a firm understanding of traditional systems engineering concepts and methodologies and must be able to apply and adjust these concepts and methodologies to an accelerated process in the early stages of the engineering design. The candidate must be familiar with space-based mission planning concepts, be able to work within an agile environment, and be an “out of the box” thinker.
Key Responsibilities:
- Participation in architecture definition and complex system problem solving in support of Research and Advanced Design programs
- Design, develop, and document systems that contain logical solutions using Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)
- Collaborate with the Chief Architect and Lead Systems Engineer to build out Systems Engineering artifacts in support of standards development for incorporation into ABMS and JADC2
- Generating and presenting material to support internal and external customer briefings

Basic Qualifications (Principal):
- Must have a Bachelor of Science degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM) discipline AND 5 years of related professional/military experience OR a Master of Science degree in a STEM discipline AND 3 years of related professional/military experience OR a STEM Ph.D. AND 1 years of related professional/military experience
- Must have an active DoD Top Secret or higher clearance (with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation)
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain SCI within a reasonable amount of time as determined by business needs
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance within a reasonable amount of time as determined by business needs
- Must have experience in space-based mission engineering and developing model-based systems engineering products
Basic Qualifications (Sr. Principal):
- Must have a Bachelor of Science degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM) discipline AND 8 years of related professional/military experience OR a Master of Science degree in a STEM discipline AND 6 years of related professional/military experience OR a STEM Ph.D. AND 4 years of related professional/military experience
- Must have an active DoD Top Secret or higher clearance (with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation)
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain SCI
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance, prior to the commencement of employment
- Must have experience in space-based mission engineering and developing model-based systems engineering products
Preferred Qualifications:
- Active TS/SCI
- Active SAP
- Experience with Cameo Enterprise Architecture modeling for system design
- Knowledge and experience with the definition of OMS – Open Mission System Architecture Specification and UCI – Universal Command and Control Interface
- Experience with modeling UCI/OMS Services and interfaces
- Experience in integrating complex system across multiple domains
- Experience demonstrating concepts to management and customers
