Northrop Grumman Space Systems has an opening for a Final Assembly Inspector (Level 1or 2) to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within the Launch Vehicle business unit located in Promontory, UT.

The Launch Vehicles (LV) Sentinel Program Promontory Final Assembly Inspector 1/2 will assist in the execution of all phases of mechanical operations from inception through delivery. This role is responsible for inspection of solid rocket motor assemblies and launch vehicles in support of the Sentinel Program for Launch Vehicles in Promontory, UT.  This role inspects and tests complex systems related to space flight hardware in accordance with the Promontory schedule and under the minimal supervision of the Quality Manager.  This role will work closely with the I&T Engineering and Mechanical Technician Departments in accordance with the engineering and quality requirements.

Job Responsibilities

  • Ensuring builds meet AS9100 (or equivalent) and other related standards.
  • Receiving inspection of flight hardware.
  • ESD (Electrostatic dissipative), FOD and Shelf Life Control.
  • Creating Nonconformances within TipQa.
  • Hands-on and visual inspection of flight hardware.
  • Use of inspections hand tooling such as Micrometers, Calipers, and etc.
  • Read digital drawings and have a working understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance.
  • Work with minimal oversight and in a multi-discipline team environment, provide insight and solutions to complicated issues both technical and procedural.
  • Written and oral communications, along with interpersonal skills that aid in achieving both primary and multi-departmental goals.
  • Use Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook etc.
  • Working with TipQa, MES, and CostPoint software.
  • Proficient at planning /organization, and decision-making skills.

Basic Qualifications:

Final Assembly Inspector Level 1 requires:

  • High School diploma or equivalent and 1 year’s additional education and/or related experience.
  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government DoD Secret Security Clearance.  (Personnel without a DoD Secret Security Clearance are required to initiate a Security Clearance Investigation within 14 days of acceptance of job offer)
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government BATFE Employee Possessor License 
  • Ability to be self-motivated, possess excellent communications skills, detail-oriented, and team player
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with an ability to effectively communicate to all levels of employees, management, and customers
  • Ability to be flexible, innovative, and work with speed and agility to complete tasks
  • Ability to be detail-oriented while understanding the big picture
  • Occasional business travel may be required 10-20%

Final Assembly Inspector Level 2 requires:

  • High School diploma or equivalent and 2 years additional education and/or related experience.
  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government DoD Secret Security Clearance.  (Personnel without a DoD Secret Security Clearance are required to initiate a Security Clearance Investigation within 14 days of acceptance of job offer)
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government BATFE Employee Possessor License

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Hands-on knowledge of inspection methods and techniques
  • Knowledge and experiences with inspection tools and equipment
  • Knowledge of TIPQA, Cost Point, and MES
  • Experience with nonconformances procedures
  • Energetic safety knowledge and experience
  • Experience in a government-contracted industrial or manufacturing environment
  • Experience on ICBMs
  • Experience with integration and test of missiles
  • Experience with executing engineering statement of work and schedule activities
  • Active U.S. Government DoD Secret Security Clearance

Salary Range: $43,100.00 - $71,900.00Salary Range 2: $51,200.00 - $85,400.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
