The Vice President of Government Relations reports to and assists the Chief Government Relations and Communications Officer to develop and execute strategies advocating for the Mission of Axiom Space to federal, state, and local government officials. This role supervises and manages the day-to-day operations of Axiom Space government relations priorities.

TRAVEL:  As required to support the mission of Axiom Space in engagement with stakeholders across the federal, state, and local governments.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervise a dynamic and rapidly evolving government relations team under tight timelines driven by operational requirements to include government operations, government policy, and associated relationship management functions with key government officials

  • Develop and implement plans to shape a strategically and tactically favorable environment for the execution of the Axiom Space mission

  • Develop standard operating procedures and models for the execution of successful influence campaigns to government stakeholders

  • Develop government policy positions consistent with successful Axiom Space operational timelines

  • Coordinate with marketing, policy, government affairs, and strategic communications teams to ensure consistent positioning and messaging across corporate verticals with government decision makers and key influencers

  • Understand and integrate key government and stakeholder views and policies into long-term strategic goals of Axiom space

  • Lead strategies across Axiom Space to position company as a thought leader throughout the space economy in civil, commercial, and national security space operations globally

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in public policy, communications, or related field required

  • At least 10 years’ experience in policy development or government program management with demonstrated management of complex teams, issues, and systems required

  • Experience in government space policy development in both the legislative and executive branch required

  • Knowledge of and experience in human spaceflight policy or operations required

  • Proven track record of developing and executing successful campaigns to develop policy, influence policy makers, and drive public discussions on space policy and programs

  • Experience in building and managing new processes and standard operating procedures to drive mission focused policy and strategy

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Work Environment: Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on the task

REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation

  • Management has the prerogative to select at any level for which the position is advertised

  • Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency is a requirement for this position

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods of time including long days meeting with federal agencies or on Capitol Hill

EQUIPMENT AND MACHINES

  • Standard office equipment and Microsoft office products including excel, word, power point, outlook, and teams

  • The Government Relations team in Washington, D.C. works remotely and requires dedicated home office space and internet connectivity commensurate with significant virtual interactions over video conferencing and VPN connections
