Responsibilities:
The Instruments Division Business Administration Section is seeking a Summer Intern who will work together with the Business Administration team to support various administrative functions within the Instruments Division. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the Instruments Division, which crafts one-of-a-kind science instruments to explore Earth, planets, the cosmos and beyond!
The Intern will be a member of the Division Business Administration office and report directly to the Group Supervisor. The selected candidate will gain hands-on experience with many of JPL’s business processes, including asset management, calendaring, travel and expense reporting, office moves, financial planning and reporting tools and processes, and other ad-hoc assignments.
Tasks include but not limited to:
Work collaboratively with Business Administration Section team members and Instruments Division personnel on assigned tasks
Provide backup support to the Section business teams in times of high demand
Prepare and analyze monthly reports/metrics as requested
Assist in the development and maintenance of custom reporting solutions developed in Power BI
Assist in the creation of business processes and workflows within Microsoft Teams
Participate in recommending and implementing business process improvements to streamline and automate tasks
Qualifications:
Must be currently enrolled at an accredited college or university pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Management, Computer/Business Information Systems, Information Technology or similar disciplines
Must have at least 1 semester or quarter remaining to complete degree
Must be available to work onsite at JPL, full-time (40 hours/week) for 12 weeks during the summer
Must have a minimum cumulative 3.0 out of a 4.0 GPA or equivalent
Excellent customer service and organizational skills; strong written and verbal communication skills
Proficient in MS Office applications, including M365, Outlook, SharePoint, Teams, Excel [pivot tables, power pivot, macros, advanced functions], PowerPoint and Word
Completed coursework with exposure to standard principles, theories concepts and techniques in business, accounting, financial analysis, forecasting/trend analysis, budgeting and reporting.
Ability to work in a dynamic, team environment, but also function independently
Preferred Skills:
Prior internship/volunteer experience in related business disciplines
Advanced experience with MS Office applications, including M365, Outlook, SharePoint, Teams, Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Power BI
The typical hourly rate for this job in Pasadena, California depending on education level is $18.50 as a freshman, $21.50 as a sophomore, $24.50 as a junior, $26.50 as a senior.
