We are seeking a Systems Engineer (Level 2) or a Principal (Level 3) Systems Engineer to join our talented team in Redondo Beach, CA. As a Systems Engineer you will support a team of engineers to define, develop, decompose, analyze, verify, and validate requirements for the ground segment of a satellite system.
This position will focus primarily on requirements analysis, decomposition, and allocation from system-level requirements down to lower-level requirements; translating and mapping CONOPS and use cases into requirements; interface definition; developing requirement specifications and a requirements traceability matrix; and liaising with subject matter experts, analysts, architects, designers, and specialty engineers to ensure requirements are defined holistically, completely, and unambiguously for an integrated system.
The program uses state-of-the-art Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), maintaining all requirements, descriptive models, analytical models, cost models, and management and support functions in one common, integrated suite of MBSE tools.
This position is contingent upon program award and/or customer funding.
Basic Qualifications:
Systems Engineer requires a Bachelor's degree in a STEM field & 2 years of related experience, OR a Master's degree in a STEM field; Principal Systems Engineer: 5 Years of relevant experience with Bachelors in Science; 3 Years of relevant experience with Masters; 1 Year of relevant experience with PhD
Active DoD Secret clearance required at the time of application
Working knowledge of systems engineering principles and processes
Experience with front end of SE “vee” requirements analysis and decomposition and generation of requirement specifications
Experience using DOORS or equivalent requirements management database
Ability to collaborate and contribute to technical discussions with fellow team members, cross-organizational teams, and management
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Ground and Space systems and/or Command and Control systems
Experience with requirements verification
Experience working with Software teams
Experience with Agile development
Familiarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering languages (SysML/UML) and concepts
Excellent communication and technical writing skills
