Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems Sector (NGAS) is seeking a Flight Inspector 4 to join our growing team of diverse professionals supporting our Sigonella Global Hawk program at NAS Sigonella in Italy (Sicily). The selected candidate will relocate to Sigonella with the assistance of Northrop Grumman.
This position will be a long-term expatriate opportunity. This position will include Flight Arrangement(s), Household Good Shipment, HOLA, COLA and other incentives for working this assignment overseas.
Responsibilities:
- Inspects aircraft systems, control stations, ground equipment, and parts for operation and conformance to production, engineering, and company standards and specifications for delivery to foreign military customer at the customer’s location
- Inspects the installation and operation of electrical, electronic, hydraulic, pneumatic, fuel, oil, and emergency systems and other parts and equipment of aircraft
- Performs preflight and post flight inspections in accordance with standard procedure on aircraft
- Approves non-flight-proven aircraft for flight
- Clearly states descriptive findings in site non-compliances
- Inspects adjustments, repairs, or modifications made on the aircraft
- Ensures site compliance with the standards and regulations set forth in program Quality Assurance Plans, Company Quality Assurance directives, and customer-driven Quality Assurance standards identified in the program's Statement of Work
- Acts as the on-site Safety officer and ensures employees are following established standards for personal protection and safe flight operations
- Works independently to support OCONUS Flight Line activities, adapting to changing priorities without losing focus on the “outliers”
Basic Qualifications:
- Must have a high school diploma or GED with a minimum of 6 years of flight inspection experience, quality/mission assurance experience, or additional education in a comparable discipline
- Familiarity with aircraft weight and balance principals
- Must have working knowledge with Microsoft Office productivity suite with an emphasis in Excel, Power Point, and Word
- Must be able to live and work OCONUS in Sigonella, Italy (Sicily)
- Must have and maintain an active U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance
- Must be able to support multiple shifts as needed
- Must have the ability to meet government/customer requirements to deploy/work at the facility.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ideal candidate has a command-presence but maintains diplomacy in working with the site leadership, stateside support elements, and/or customer representatives
- Advanced knowledge in all aspects of a Quality Assurance Management Systems as defined by AS9100D
- A wide and comprehensive acquaintance with, and understanding of what it takes to implement and sustain Quality Assurance from a total Mission Assurance perspective
- Global Hawk platform experience desired
- Software verification and testing experience desired
- Practical experience (in aerospace or a related field) with problem identification and root cause analysis as well as formal ISO/AS auditor training highly desired
- In-depth knowledge of aircraft weight and balance and experience using AWBS software program
- Experience in composite fabrication for airframes, work with electrical and electronic assemblies, and/or propulsion systems
