Our Deployables Operating Unit is hiring for a Manufacturing Engineer (Level 2 or 3). The selected candidate will support our Mission Enabling Products division. This position will be located in Oxnard, CA.
Core Responsibilities:
Develops manufacturing processes, procedures, and production layouts for assembly of spacecraft deployable mechanisms and their associated harnessing.
Designs sequence of operations and specifies procedures for the fabrication of tools and equipment and other functions that affect product performance.
May incorporate inspection and test requirements into the production plan.
Inspects performance of machinery, equipment, and tools to verify their efficiency, and investigates and initiates corrective action of problems and deficiencies to ensure product quality.
May conduct coupon level testing for design/process verification
Provides guidance to engineering regarding design concepts to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques.
Ensures processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations, standard operating procedures and best-practices.
Monitor activities on the floor and train technicians and inspectors in Soldering and Harnessing skills.
Harness skills to include: Silver/ Gold Soldering, Potting and conformal coating, close up inspection photography (4-20x magnification)
Milestone planning: Scheduling floor activities and resources in accordance with commitment dates as represented by program schedule
Procedure development within MES (Solumina)
This requisition may be filled at either a Manufacturing Engineer (Level 2) or a Principal Manufacturing Engineer (Level 3) grade based on the qualifications listed below.
Basic Qualifications for Manufacturing Engineer (Level 2):
2 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree; 0 years of relevant experience with a Masters' degree; an additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
Experience working with harnessing in an aerospace environment
Hands on experience resolving productivity or quality issues in a manufacturing or development environment.
Experience with Root Cause & Corrective Actions (RCCA) and Failure Modes & Effects Analysis (FMEA)
Capability of leadership of complex projects or processes.
Ability to read and understand engineering drawings including familiarity of GD&T
Understanding of Design for Manufacturability (DFM).
Ability to work as part of a cross-functional team throughout program lifecycle.

5 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree; 3 years of relevant experience with a Masters' degree; an additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
Minimum of 2 years of experience working with harnessing in an aerospace environment
Hands on experience resolving productivity or quality issues in a manufacturing or development environment.
Experience with Root Cause & Corrective Actions (RCCA) and Failure Modes & Effects Analysis (FMEA)
Demonstrated leadership experience of complex projects or processes.
Ability to read and understand engineering drawings including familiarity of GD&T
Understanding of Design for Manufacturability (DFM).
Ability to work as part of a cross-functional team throughout program lifecycle.
Preferred Qualifications:
Manufacturing or Systems Engineering experience with spaceflight hardware.
Experience with flex harnessing (ie: ribbon cables)
Experience with Gold solder
Experience with MES (Solumina)
Experience with electrical testing of harnessing (continuity, insulation resistance, etc)
