Job description
Ursa Major was founded to address a critical shortfall in the U.S. industrial base and bring a new model to aerospace and defense systems: we design and manufacture the world’s leading propulsion systems for space, hypersonic applications, and missile systems.
Our products and technologies require an extraordinary team – a team that will mold tomorrow’s technologies while deploying today’s best. We are an intrinsically motivated team that has a passion for solving problems and empowering each other every day to develop our skills, knowing that there is always room for growth.
Our propulsion systems cannot function without sensors, actuators, controllers, and other electronic hardware functioning well together. As an Avionics Mechanical Engineer, you will work on designing the mechanical avionics components for Ursa’s rocket engines as well as for Ursa’s rocket engine test facility and numerous testing rigs. These components include both mechanical enclosures and harnesses for avionics hardware for engines and support equipment.
Responsibilities:
· Design and manage all 3D harness routing models
· Create harness drawings and write work instructions for their assembly
· Design, develop, and test enclosures for Avionics hardware
· Track and troubleshoot technical issues with harnessing and enclosures
· Develop and maintain processes and requirements for harnessing and enclosures
Required Qualifications:
· Minimum B.S. in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
· 5+ years experience with vehicle electrical systems.
· Knowledge of harness manufacturing techniques and component trades
· Knowledge of electrical enclosure design for harsh thermal and dynamic environments.
· Expertise in general 3D modeling and drawing creation
Desired Experience:
· Experience with wire harnessing design, fabrication, and analysis.
· Experience designing and analysis of electronic enclosures
· Experience with CREO or NX
