Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled Director, Corporate Tax to lead and manage the tax function of MDA Space. The position is an integral part of the finance team providing leadership, relevant technical expertise, and alignment of the tax strategies with the vision of MDA Space. This role involves overseeing all aspects of corporate tax accounting & compliance, planning, controversy management and strategy. Further, the Director, Corporate Tax will develop talent within the tax team and have a strong collaborative relationship with members of the MDA Space Finance team and with internal and external stakeholders.
The ideal candidate will ensure that our company remains compliant with tax regulations while optimizing our tax position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership and manage the tax team ensuring the timely and accurate completion of domestic and foreign income tax compliance requirements
- Oversee and manage the consolidated income tax provisions process to ensure timely reporting.
- Identify and implement opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies.
- Develop and implement effective tax strategies to optimize the company's overall tax position.
- Monitor, review and provide update to internal stakeholders of changes in tax legislation and assess their impact on the company.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to provide strategic tax advice and support business initiatives. Develop a deep understanding of MDA Space: its business, strategy, culture, vision and values
- Manage relationships with external auditors and tax authorities.
- Mentor and develop the internal tax team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
Job Qualifications:
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in corporate tax, with significant experience in managing large projects.
- Strong knowledge of Canadian corporate tax laws and through understanding of the Canadian Scientific Research and Development program.
- Ability to develop close working relationships with business partners in order to obtain a deep understanding and support the business.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Proven ability to lead a team and manage complex projects.
- Focused on continues improvement.
Special Considerations:
Successful candidates must obtain and hold security clearance at the Reliability status level, and pass security assessment for the Controlled Goods Program (CGP), and be able to obtain higher clearances.

The compensation range for this position is $150,000 - $200,000 annually. The specific compensation offered will be based on the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.
