Job description

Turning Space into a Transportation Layer for Earth

Who We Are:

Eras of humanity can often be defined by a dominant transportation mode - horse drawn chariots, ocean going boats, or aircraft. These were spurred by a small group of people rigorously focused on building technology to achieve faster access to more of the world.  We seek to usher in a new era of humanity defined by universal access to the whole globe free of borders and the presence of a routine way from space to Earth. To do this, we are building highly maneuverable re-entry vehicles that can loiter in orbit before precision landing back on Earth.

Position Overview:
Inversion is seeking a Facility Manager to oversee the planning, construction, and maintenance of the company’s headquarters, manufacturing, and testing facilities. This role collaborates closely with the Executive, IT, Engineering, and Manufacturing teams to ensure each location meets world-class standards. From managing large greenfield projects to executing small-scale capital improvements, the Facility Manager will drive all daily operations that support Inversion’s mission.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage budgets for construction and maintenance projects from large greenfield projects to small one-day capital improvements.
  • Strategize, implement, and drive forward schedules for facility-related upgrades and changes to ensure compatibility with engineering needs schedules.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all construction, maintenance, janitorial staff, building management, landlords, inspectors, and other external party related matters.
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations and maintenance of the facilities including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and janitorial.
  • Partner with IT, Engineering, Manufacturing, and other departments to ensure seamless integration between their needs and the facility’s accommodation.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in facilities management or building engineering for industrial properties.
  • Experience with Defense, Hardware Technology, and Advanced Manufacturing related projects.
  • Excellent project management skills with a proven track record of delivering projects on time and within budget.
  • Capable of seeing results operating in highly ambiguous environments with minimal oversight.
  • Experience opening new facility locations, both office and manufacturing.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Possesses a valid driver’s license.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs. unassisted.
  • Must be able to stoop, bend, crawl, and maneuver in tight spaces.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Knowledgeable and experienced with hazardous operations such as high-pressure systems, heavy machinery, high voltage, and explosives storage.
  • Knowledgeable and experienced with operating and maintaining forklifts, aerial man lifts and overhead gantry cranes and hoists.
  • Certified Facility Manager (CFM) accreditation.
  • Experience driving forklifts.

The California annual base salary for this role is currently $115,000-144,000. Pay Grades are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data.  Individual pay will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: interviews and an assessment of several factors that are unique to each candidate, job-related skills, relevant education and experience, certifications, abilities of the candidate and internal equity.

ITAR Compliance:
