Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking to hire a Principal Supply Chain Logistics Specialist. This position is located in Huntsville, AL.

This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.

What You'll Get To Do:

Specific duties to include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Responsible for the receipt, delivery and inspection of incoming material, central stores/warehousing of program and/or company-acquired material and packaging and shipping services

  • Provides packaging engineering support, special container design, packaging estimates and format quotes

  • Ensures the retention of material and supplies for future use and in support of production and/or engineering

  • Responsible for the accountability and accuracy of physical records

  • Provides transportation of material and correspondence within the local Northrop Grumman business environment

  • Maintains functional records in support of internal and external audits to ensure compliance with established policies and procedures

  • Manages, develops or carries out delivery in accordance with local established business policies, procedures and public law

  • Ensures accuracy of delivery information

  • Ensures: finished goods inventories, non-proprietary government property inventory, transportation, import/export requirements, and customer returns in conjunction with business area personnel

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80A. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Principal Supply Chain Logistics Specialist : Bachelors Degree with 5 years of relevant work experience in shipping/receiving, and/or inventory control, and/or material distribution, OR Masters Degree with 3 years of relevant work experience, OR a PhD with 1 year of relevant work experience

  • Sr. Principal Supply Chain Logistics Specialist: Bachelors Degree with 8 years of relevant work experience in shipping/receiving, and/or inventory control, and/or material distribution, OR Masters Degree with 6 years of relevant work experience, OR a PhD with 4 years of relevant work experience.

  • Experienced in SAP and have working knowledge of transactions used for: receiving, inventory issuance, transaction reversals, and/or reports

  • Prior experience leading a team, projects, and/or processes

  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance

  • Basic computer skills, including MS Office

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to perform 50% desk work and 50% material distribution responsibilities with the ability to lift up to 25 lbs.

  • Must be able to move stock/inventory/materials around the warehouse, dock, and various business units.

Preferred Qualifications:

These qualifications would be nice to have:

  • Very strong communication skills with ability to build customer relationships.

  • Strong time management skills and maintaining attention to detail and accuracy.  

  • High degree of creativity and ability to solve a wide range of problems independently.

  • Experience in operating a forklift and other types of material moving equipment

  • Hazmat and Ammunition & Explosives (A&E) experience/certification is highly desired

  • DOT and IATA Hazmat Certification

  • Experience with classified program requirements

  • Experience with using an MRP system for storing and issuing inventory

  • Experience with inventory management

  •  Experienced user of MS Office computer programs to accomplish reports, logs, and briefings

  • Knowledge of The Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS)

  • Knowledge of ISO9000

  • Familiarity and experience with audits from Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA), Defense Contract Management Agency Safety (DCMAS), Defense Contract     Management Agency Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA)

  • Ability to lead and motivate others to mentor and ensure others meet complex objectives

Salary Range: $79,100.00 - $118,700.00Salary Range 2: $98,600.00 - $147,800.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
